At Garsons, we're serious about gardening which is why we take care to source the best quality and widest variety of plants for you. We visit our seed grower each year to hand-pick the best new varieties, so if there's a better flower or a more disease-resistant plant we'll have it in stock. Many of our bedding plants are supplied by a local grower too. Our range of herbs is grown in Hampshire, bedding plants in Hersham, Surrey, and Shrubs and Perennials from Herefordshire, so at Garsons you can be sure of the freshest plants.
George Henry, the second son of Mary Thompson, farming in Hersham, took the opportunity to move to West End Village in 1871, starting the business we now know as Garsons. The mixed farm gradually specialised in vegetable production, selling to greengrocers through the Borough Market by London Bridge. Garson Farm was probably one of the furthest farms supplying London with vegetables at that time, there were closer market gardening areas at Twickenham, Fulham and Chelsea villages. However, from Esher, horses and wagons could make the return journey to the Borough Market in less than 24 hours.
Here at Garsons we are proud of our committed and highly experienced team. We stopped off here as a last minute outing. Lovely atmosphere and clean and tidy. My only hang up was the caf/ restaurant. There were no trays and it was busy. We ordered cream teas and I had to push back through the wue to chose my scones and get the Jam. I had a very small round tray and not once did staff offer a tray knowing there were more at the till. I have a bottle of coke on the tray a glass 2 tea pots and 2scones. The coke (which was 2.45) spilt everywhere. After cleaning myself up I got to the table to find dirty cutlery in the racks for use. Personally I think you need a bit more order or some kind of system in in your restaurant for the busy periods and be a bit more helpful to your guests! Especially as not everybody will have been there before( like myself). I enjoyed browsing the shop. The play area is really only aimed at smaller children so my two couldn't use it. I would go back to Garsons but only to shop.
Went pumpkin picking with my children, which we couldn't do locally to our home. But it was well worth the 45 min journey. The shop was amazing with Christmas displays, lovely little playground and the restaurant was fab. Really good menu and food was worth the money. We all really enjoyed our visit and will definitely come back closer to Christmas for tree decorations.excellently run. Well done to the management
As per usual what a fantastic day out. Not a lot of fruit on offer. But all the same was a great day out. The farm shop also sells some fantastic bits. Can't comment on the restaurant as I was full of fruit. We always walk with a fresh bottle of water to wash the fruit before we eat it. I have been going for over 8 years and I have never been asked not to eat the fruits. For crying out loud they are all over the trees and shrubs. So so much. Sometimes people just pick them and leave them on the ground. Very wasteful. The staff are always polite always a good experience
