Pat Munro

Pat Munro is a privately owned multi-discipline contractor based in Alness in the Highlands of Scotland. Founded in 1945, the company has gained a wealth of experience in all manner of contracts and has grown steadily to become a recognised force in both the civil engineering and utility sectors. With over 170 employees, we are one of the largest private contractors currently operating in the Highlands. We own and operate our own quarries, manufacture our own roadstone and concrete, and are recognised experts in property development, road haulage and waste disposal.

Pat Munro manufacture structural concrete to high specifications and supply throughout the Highlands of Scotland, from our production plants in Alness, Dornoch, Inverness and Elgin. We use our own aggregates to produce a wide range of concrete mixes to suit any purpose, from house foundations to specialist high-strength mixes for bridge construction. Subsequent delivery to site, including over long distances is carried out using our flexible fleet of Ready Mix Trucks, specially adapted to accommodate delivery to remote and distant locations.

As one of the core service areas of our business, our civil engineering teams have a long established record of successfully delivering a wide spectrum of projects across the Highlands of Scotland. Pat Munro have a highly experienced and well trained workforce, complemented by a professional, customer focused management team, to ensure that together we achieve the key objectives in terms of health & safety, quality and value. Pat Munro have a dedicated team for undertaking both commercial and domestic building design and construction works, across the Highlands. We are an NHBC registered builder and maintain strong customer focus to ensure we hand over a high quality product.

Pat Munro has a long-established surfacing team, based at the Quarry at Caplich, Alness, Ross-shire. The surfacing team carry out a wide variety of public and private road surfacing contracts each year, including key clients such as Highland Council and Scottish Government, and major Civil Engineering Contractors. The surfacing teams are supplied with high quality bitumen road surfacing materials from the Pat Munro Quarry and Coating Plant Operations. This ensures that the material meets all the necessary specifications for public road networks.

Since 1972, we have been manufacturing and supplying coated roadstone which has been used to construct many of the roads in the Highlands. Use of our own aggregates and subsequent delivery in our own large fleet of HGV tippers ensures complete control over the supply chain. As surfacing contractors, we have an in-depth knowledge of the factors affecting performance on site and can adapt to any special requirements which we may feel would benefit our clients. We can offer advice on a variety of options which may help to reduce cost or increase quality.
