Fire alarms systems are an essential electrical safety system for all buildings. The nature and functionality of the system will be dependant on the buildings operations and use. We often design, install, commission and maintain fire alarm systems for Housing Multiple Occupancy ‘s (HMOs). These systems need to meet building control authority standards so landlords can legally rent their rooms. Like fire alarms, commercial buildings require emergency lighting as a safety system to facilitate the safe occupancy and passage of people to exit a building or perform critical tasks in the event of a power cut. We design, install, commission and maintain emergency lighting installations in commercial buildings. Housing Multiple Occupancy's (HMOs) require emergency lighting to facilitate the safe passage of exit for tenants living at a rented property. It is essential these systems are operating in compliance with the latest regulations and UK legislation imposes a duty on persons who control the premises to ensure as far as reasonably, the safety of occupants.

It is necessary to have an electrical installation regularly inspected and tested for compliance. Safety is of the upmost importance. Typically, homeowners are advised to do this at no longer than 10 yearly intervals. If you are a landlord, it is mandatory to do this at a maximum of 5 yearly intervals or if there is a change of tenant. Commercial and industrial installations are to be inspected and tested, typically every 1-3 years. Estate agents will often ask homeowners to produce an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) to determine the safety of the electrical installation in a home they are selling.

Typically, house rewires can take between 5-14 days. This is all dependant on the existing installation, its size and if it is occupied. After extensive use, that is, when a current (electricity) passes through copper - it degrades. Rewires are a substantial piece of work and if cables are to be chased (recessed) in walls, this will create a lot of dust during the process. Once completed, the aesthetics are excellent and the end-users' safety increased. If you're wiring is old (25+ years) and without any recent inspection and testing, we strongly recommend you have an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) performed.

All dwellings will have some type of heating and therefore require controls to manage the temperature. Most houses in the UK have "combi" or "heating only" gas/oil boilers that provide both hot water and central heating. Combi boilers do not require this setup. Furthermore, external lighting should have a high IP rating to protect it from water and dust ingress.
