Free Insulation grants are available to install Cavity Wall Insulation, Internal Wall Insulation, Loft Insulation and Room in Roof Insulation. All private UK householders, in receipt of a qualifying income or disability-related benefit can qualify. EnergyLink can also help with grants of up to 25% for External Wall Insulation. You do not currently need to be receiving benefits to qualify. External Wall Free Insulation is also available in the KW, IV and PH areas of Scotland, as long as the property is not on the gas network.
We do NOT employ individuals to install or survey and neither can we assist you in finding work, placing surveys, etc. We also do not provide funding to insulation installers. We forward applications from this web site to insulation installers. It is then their responsibility to contact customers, arrange surveys, complete the work and arrange funding.
External Wall Insulation grants of up to 25% are available. EnergyLink can arrange for you to receive a free, no-obligation survey and quote from an approved local installer. Finance may also be available so you can spread the cost over monthly payments. Installing External Wall Insulation can save up to 270 per year on fuel bills and prevent 1.8 tonnes of harmful Carbon Dioxide emissions being produced, in addition to improving the appearance of your home. External Wall Insulation typically costs 7,000 to 15,000 depending on the type and size of the property.
Room in Roof Insulation grants are available to pay for the entire cost of having loft or attic rooms insulated. If you receive a benefit that qualifies, then you should be entitled to a 100% grant to pay for Room in Roof Insulation, depending on the type of heating system you have installed. The grant funding is part of the Government's Energy Companies Obligation scheme. The main Energy Suppliers such as British Gas, NPower, etc. have to pay for Insulation in private, domestic households. Many older properties that were originally built with a loft/attic room or ‘Room-in-Roof' were not insulated at the time.
If you receive a qualifying benefit, Free Cavity Wall Insulation grants are available to pay for the entire cost of having Cavity Wall Insulation professionally installed. The property must also be privately owned or rented and occupied at the time of survey. If you are not entitled to a Free Cavity Wall Insulation grant, we can still arrange a free survey and quote from an approved installer. Costs are typically in the region of 500 to 600. The grant funding is part of a scheme known as the Energy Companies Obligation (ECO) which was originally part of the Government's Green Deal Energy Efficiency program.
EnergyLink were established in 2007 to put customers in touch with reputable Insulation Installers in their local area. EnergyLink's staff have experience of working for Home Insulation, Heating, Renewable Energy and Double Glazing companies. FreeInsulation.co.uk is part of the EnergyLink group of websites. Home Insulation grant funding is provided by utility companies, including NPower, E.ON, British Gas, EDF, SSE and Scottish Power. These energy companies have been set targets by the Government to reduce carbon emissions in domestic properties.
If your home was built of brick after 1924, it will most likely have two layers of brickwork with a cavity or air gap in between. After 1982, most properties were required by building regulations to have the cavity filled with insulation at the time of construction. If your home has un-filled cavity walls, you can have insulating material blown into the gap and grants are available to cover the entire cost. Properties built of brick before 1924 will typically have solid walls. These homes can benefit by being insulated from the outside with either brick-effect or render finishes.
If your home has a traditional loft space accessed by a small hatch, the floor of the loft should be insulated to a depth of 270mm (11 inches). If there is less than 4 inches already installed, you could qualify for a grant to top it up to the required level. Visit our Loft Insulation page for more details. If your loft space has rooms within it that are accessed by a fixed staircase, they could benefit from having the walls and sloping parts of the roof insulated from the inside. Grants are available to cover the entire cost of the work.
