Following an enquiry made to Teckentrup who recommended Wolverine Garage Doors as their registered installer for my area. I contacted Richard at Wolverine who told me TECKENTRUP doors are rubbish and recommended the Alutech door. He came out measured the door opening and asked what I wanted. He provided no brochures or pictures to pick anything from as they are a paperless company, which didn’t matter at the time as I’d seen the door I wanted on the Teckentrup website and knew exactly what I wanted….a sectional door in anthracite grey, matching profile, three windows across the top panel and I showed him a picture of my front door so he could match the glass on the garage door.

I was sent a quote which was based on the description and pictures I showed him. The quote had a deadline to be accepted, so to hold the price I accepted the quote and paid the deposit.

Having attended site Richard could see the build was no where near ready for the door to be installed but ordered the door and stored it until the builder was ready for it.

I was on holiday during installation and was being hounded for the final payment. So I called The on-site tradesmen to ensure all went well before making payment and they told me there were small dents on the profile of the frame where it meets the rendered wall, so I partially settled their final bill and retained £443 to cover any repairs.

Richard then sent me the pictures of the door installed, which I flagged several marks on and then picked up on the wrong glass being installed. Richard completely ignored my messages about this. He did however attend site (without permission) and repaired the profile.

On my return from holiday I looked over the door and spotted more scratches which are down to the metal on the inside of the door, which I advised him of. The door has been up since it’s been installed as no electrical connections have been installed in the property yet so any marks on the door were done on installation. He is prepared to repair these scratches but has sent me an additional quote of £404 to pay on top of the final bill to install the correct glass.

He says he’s installed what he quoted for and the brochure is attached to the quote and I should have ensured the quote was correct.

I didn’t even see the brochure attached to the footprint of the email and there was no reference to it in the covering email. But I have since looked in the brochure and there is nothing detailing the different types of glass which I was supposedlymeant to check the quote against. There is some small print referencing different types of glass but no diagrams or illustrations for each glass type and the name of it. So I don’t know how I was meant to check the quote was correct in the first place
This company doesn’t provide brochures until the quote has been drafted and the relevant information required in the brochure relating to the types of glass windows available does not exist and they’re blaming me, their customer for not checking the quote, even though I had nothing to check it against.
He’s refusing to correct his mistake and has referred the £443 to a debt collection service just one week after installation.
