Welcome to Simply Sewing — a small business based near Wokingham in Berkshire. I specialise in all types of handmade soft furnishings. I am happy to provide a free estimate including a visit to measure your windows and advice on curtain and blind styles. There are many styles of blinds available including Roman, London, festoon, reefed or tie-up. I can supply all the necessary materials; all you need to do is choose the fabric. As well as curtains and blinds, I can make coordinating cushions, bedcovers, lined baskets, headboards and lampshades.

There are a huge range of cushion designs to choose from which can add contrast and luxury to a room scheme with minimal amounts of fabric. I can also make box cushions for benches and window seats. In a bedroom you might also want to coordinate a bed valance, fabric covered headboard, lampshade or bedcover with your curtains or blind.

Your choice of curtain heading may be influenced by the function or style of the room, or to suit an existing pole or track. I can show you examples of different finishes and recommend what might work best for you. I can also advise on linings with thermal and blackout qualities, or interline your curtains for a luxurious effect. As a finishing touch you may also require a coordinating pelmet, valance, holdbacks or tiebacks which can be made in a variety of styles from the simple to the more elaborate.

Blinds can be used alone to dress a window, or in addition to curtains. There are many styles to give a tailored or more sumptuous effect. Borders, hems or trims can be added to add contrast or co-ordinate with other furnishings. You can also add a pelmet or valance at the top of the blind, or have a pelmet alone to trim a window where a blind or curtain is not required.
