Four stars not five only cause there's always room for improvement, which is what the team does - improve it. I stopped doing web dev years ago mainly cause I always felt I was working in antiquated systems. Back in the day, my day, I was a database programmer writing applications in dBase2, then 3, then I discovered Clipper87. It would take dBase code and compile it and in to an EXE. Then the magic really happened with Zachary. Zachary was a database code generating system that created flawless code. You simply defined the system and it wrote the code. Of course you could insert your own code at any place in the execution. So many developers got stuck on writing their own code while I completed project after project. Although it was textual, I could deliver better applications in a fifth of the time. So that was about 1990, and it's only been since last year (2017) when I discovered Webflow from Alexandra at ALLMAVEN. Design and Productivity merged into a beautiful, promising partnership - and future. Love it! Thanks for building it!
My history in Web development almost spans the time the world wide web was made public. I have tried and used many tools to help me code web pages over this time from raw Text editors to FrontPage to Dreamweaver to Coda and then on to Muse. All in the effort to turn creative websites around fast. I found Webflow through a recommendation of a friend and am so impressed with the capabilities and features it offers. Unlike other website development tools focused on the creative aspect, Webflow creates clean SEO friendly code without any proprietary or buggy additional code.
I've spent a few days trying out Webflow as I was looking for an alternative to Adobe Muse now that Adobe has announced the end of life timeline for that software's development. I'm a freelance graphic designer, and while I have some experience with Dreamweaver, coding is not one of my primary skills, but I still wanted to be able to offer small websites as part of my services when the opportunity arises. I've found Webflow to be an excellent cross between Muse and Dreamweaver. It feels like it has a lot less limitations than something like Muse while not being as intimidating as Dreamweaver. I love that it offers the ability to go in and edit the code directly if necessary, but the way it handles the box model and the editing of CSS properties, assigning of classes, etc. is extremely elegant.
