Stewart & Shields Ltd are a Scottish building contractor with a rich knowledge and heritage in traditional building methods. Since the early 1950s, they have led Scottish building practices with an innovative approach. From the construction of single units to multi-million pound developments, they deploy their expert knowledge combined with pioneering methods focussed on healthy environmental credentials. They deliver inspirational, high standard buildings for their clients in all sectors across Scotland.

A family founded and managed business, based in Helensburgh, Stewart & Shields Building Contractors, has successfully grown in scale, reputation and experience since the early 1950s. With our head office in Helensburgh and offices in the east end of Glasgow, Port Glasgow and in the Borders, we serve the whole of Scotland with industry leading buildings. The Company was first set up by Jim Shields Snr and Alex Stewart over 60 years ago, and now son, Jim Shields and grandsons, Mark and Richard Shields, are proud to continue the vision of providing an ever-improving service, delivering safe, reliable projects on time, to budget and to the highest quality.

We offer a comprehensive mix of building services, serving the whole of Scotland, including the Highlands and Islands. We are a design and build contractor for both private and public sector clients. Combining both traditional and Passivhaus Standard build methods, we lead the industry in bespoke solutions. We tailor our services for each project and can provide just one, or a combination of several. Best value is always gained when clients engage with us at an early stage in the build contract.
