At w+r we specialise in producing cast in-situ concrete countertops, furniture and architectural features. Drawing on a wealth of experience and a creative sensibility we create exquisite, bespoke and truly unique fair faced concrete surfaces that grace any space they inhabit. We believe in 'truth to materials' and aim to celebrate the concreteness of concrete. Simplicity of design, line and form are best placed to facilitate this, to allow the material to speak for itself. Our aim is to exceed our clients' expectations as to the level of quality of finish expected of in-situ concrete.
Born of a creative background, at w+r we are passionate about the alchemy of the concrete process, the transformation of the base materials into stunning features for the home and public spaces. Formed in 2004 we have developed a solid and growing reputation for delivering high quality, bespoke, hand trowelled concrete countertops and architectural features. Fine art credentials inform the aesthetic and sculptural understanding of the concrete process. All of our work is cast in-situ. Each object is created in the environment it is designed for meaning that the construction process can respond to the nuances of an enviroinment in a way that pre-cast cannot.
At w+r we work closely with architects to help facilitate the realization of their designs. We have extensive experience in producing bespoke concrete countertops and surfaces and other architectural elements such as walls, furniture, fire hearths and steps and can offer advice at the early design stages of a project where fair-faced concrete is to be employed. We can offer consultation on projects with regard to formwork detailing and surface design for fair-faced concrete elements and reviewing of design details with regard to practicalities of formwork construction.
At w+r we specialise in creating hand-trowelled and cast in-situ concrete countertops and worktops. Each w+r countertop is bespoke and tailored to the specifications of each individual client. Pouring in-situ means that countertops can be produced seamlessly without the need for joints. Floor return panels can also be incorporated into the joint free design. The beautiful patina produced by the hand trowelled method is a product of the process that provides a stunning natural aesthtic and is truly unique for each surface.
At w+r we work closely with kitchen designers to maximize the potential of polished concrete within the kitchen environment. Polished concrete is an alternative to other everyday countertop materials for the design conscious and offers the advantage of being able to produce a seamless, joint free working surface. Each concrete countertop is hand trowelled producing a surface patina of true uniqueness, depth and warmth. Our cast in-situ countertops can be integrated into any kitchen design to a high specification and finish and can incorporate any sink, hob or other kitchen appliance model.
