Based in the South of England, and established for over 10 years, Florus offer a highly personal and professional garden design service. Our expertise and experience enables us to assist with all aspects of a project, from the initial planning stages to construction and final planting. All projects receive the same level of commitment, large or small, commercial or residential. At Florus, we recognise that each client has a particular vision of their ideal garden. So, by working closely with our clients throughout, we ensure that when the finished design is presented, it will contain all the elements required to achieve the true potential of each garden whilst reflecting individual taste and lifestyle.
It can be pointless laying turf in a front garden as small as this, especially if the brief is to be low maintenance. Laying a suitable base and covering in different sized cobbles will effectively deter weeds. A central Purbeck stone rock and Mediterranean style spot planting provide interest and colour year round. Garden rooms and outside offices are becoming more and more popular. Feeling like you are in the garden but with all the comforts of being inside is a great benefit. By using composite decking and artificial turf we kept future maintenance to a minimum and ensured our clients could enjoy their outside space without too much effort.
A large entertaining area, hot tub and raised beds were softened by airy, romantic planting. Architectural topiary and tasteful evergreens provide structure and balance. This small, shady rear garden was transformed into a modern entertaining area using an angular design in composite decking. Palms, cordylines and phormiums add to the contemporary feel and are up-lit for night time effect. Previously, this area was one big grass slope which was difficult to maintain and unusable. Our clients wanted to create flat, formal lawns with wide, generous steps to maximise this space.
Really busy period for us, particularly as we are all realising that a foreign holiday is very unlikely this year and the garden is likely to be the main focus again this summer. We are currently working on lots of designs, including this courtyard garden in Wick due to be built in March.
Yet more planting today, this time in a front garden in Broadstone. Beautiful curving brick paths break up, what was, a compacted and patchy lawn. Looking forward to seeing it and taking more photos when it's all in flower.
Some of the plants delivered ready for planting in a garden we designed in Child Okeford.
Planted this olive tree about 15 years ago when it was about a metre high. Look how it's grown. Have struggled with olives in pots but in the ground they seem very happy.
Received some lovely photos from a client in Broadstone showing us how beautiful her garden was looking a year on from it being completed.
