Almost everybody asks about floor coverings at some point, hence the link on the FAQ page. All of the photographs on this page are of our own home. We wanted to be able to demonstrate that it is possible to have any floor covering with underfloor heating, so when the developer asked us what we wanted, we chose a few different things. Our local clients often visit the house to experience the system, view things like the plumbing arrangement, and discuss they projects, so we thought it would be good for them to feel how good the heating is, no matter what the floor covering.
We provide packs for floor areas of up to 25 square metres and up to 40 square metres. Each pack contains all the UFH components you will need to install into a slab plus screed floor, so if you intend installing in a different floor construction you would need extra fixings appropriate for the floor type. The smaller pack has two circuits from the manifold, and the larger pack has three circuits. A single pack is best suited to one open zone up to the size stated because they do not have multiple thermostats as would be the case for a number of separate rooms.

We work hard to make it as informative and interesting as possible, as well as easy to navigate. We are an independent underfloor heating installation company based in the Scottish Borders, supplying quality, reliable underfloor heating systems UK wide. We also supply heat pumps and solar panels. Would you choose to have a hippopotamus in every room of your house? Of course not, no. Well a radiator takes up as much room as a hippopotamus and is almost as attractive to look at. The other thing about them is that in these days of rapidly rising fossil fuel prices, radiators are expensive to run as well, taking lots of your hard-earned cash to keep you warm.
With fossil fuel prices as high as they are, most of our customers are asking us to quote for underfloor heating with heat pumps and solar panels. There are four main types of renewable energy; solar, wind, hydro and geothermal. Heat pumps take latent heat energy from the ground or outside water and convert it into usable heat energy. They work like a fridge in reverse and run on electricity, so they're not, strictly speaking, a 'renewable' energy source. However, the amount of electrical energy required to run them can be considerably less than the usable heat energy they produce.
A cross-section of the most commonly asked questions about underfloor heating. You should find the answer to your question here, but if not, just contact us by any of the methods here and we will answer your question and add it to this page on the next update. What is underfloor heating? Warm water is circulated through a series of pipes laid in the floor at the time of construction. These pipes form a continuous loop between two distribution manifolds. Heat is transferred from the pipes to a thermal conducting medium, which is usually concrete.
