We are a family business established in 1992 and now based in Paisley. In addition to paint stripping, door restoration & custom made doors, we specialise in architectural salvage, Victorian and reclaimed doors, fire surrounds, custom made vestibule doors, custom made storm doors, vintage items, door handles, door knobs, leaded and painted glass and lots of other items of vintage and industrial interest. We firmly believe in a circular economy and try to re-use and reclaim as much as we possibly can.

We firmly believe in restoring something rather than replacing it where possible. This is why we offer a door restoration service where we can advise you if this is possible and what repairs require to be carried out. However, sometimes your original Vestibule or Storm Doors have had just too much history for this to be possible and need to be replaced. This is when our custom made traditional style Vestibule & Storm Doors may be the answer you have been looking for. Original period front doors in good condition are always difficult to source and that is why we manufacture, to custom size, traditional Vestibule & Storm Doors typical of the Victorian era.

Here at Glasgow Salvage & Restore a Door, we have an enviable reputation for paint stripping that is second to none. Whatever condition your old doors are in, we have the experience to achieve the best result possible for you. Our paint and varnish removal service for stripping your doors includes firstly dipping and then re-dipping if necessary to ensure all paint, plaster and filler has been removed. The doors are then dried, hand sanded and finished with wire wool. The doors are then washed down with a vinegar solution which helps to restore the rich colour of the wood.
