Geddes Group

We are the Geddes Group, a family firm established in 1936 which has steadily expanded from our agricultural base into Earthworks and Demolition Contractors, Plant Skip and Haulage hire and Quarrying. Our rock and sand quarries produce a full range of Sands, Fills and Aggregates as well as high quality Asphalt and Ready Mix Concrete. Suppliers to national contractors and local businesses we also supply direct to the public. The Geddes Group has a wealth of experience and a reputation for hard work and professionalism earned on some of the largest construction projects in Scotland.

Our waste management business spans from the recycling of inert waste, typically from muck shifting and demolition, into construction materials to the transportation of various waste types for local authorities using our fleet of specialist waste trailers. The picture opposite is a Caterpillar 318 with a lift cab on Hire to a local authority transfer facility. This machine and operator are there to separate and load the different waste types for transport to further recycling or landfill. The transport of waste is also carried out by the Geddes Group, we have a number of specialist trailers designed for various waste types.

The Geddes Group's fleet of heavy plant and our experienced workforce makes us the ideal contractor for any major public or civil engineering contract. We have been involved on some of the largest contracts in Scotland over the last 30 years. With an extensive range of heavy plant available we can handle large scale excavations and muckshifting. We cover all aspects of groundworks including drainage, pipe and cable installation, road makeup. All our operators are CPCS card holders and receive regular in-house training and assessment.

We have carried out demolition contracts for over 25 Years and are registered members of the National Federation of Demolition Contractors. Our considerable plant holding incorporates specialist equipment and attachments to facilitate the various techniques required. Materials from demolition can be crushed and screened on-site to provide a cost effective aggregate solution.

Most Geddes trucks are fully insulated for delivering asphalt and are configured for tipping into pavers.
