John Pomfrey began Pomfrey Metal Fabrications in 1991, taking over a workshop on the very edge of the Sussex coast. Over the years the business grew and evolved two arms: PMF Designs - creating furniture and other bespoke metalwork pieces; and PMF Metalwork - focussing on engineering and metalwork fabrication. John was apprenticed at the Phoenix Ironworks in Lewes, and worked on a wide range of both large and small engineering projects throughout his career. His son Matthew began working with him in 2002, and between them they have created a thriving business which meets the needs of a huge variety of clients.

Our mild steel furniture is available in a variety of metallic and plain colour finishes including black, bronze, dark graphite, manganese, metallic blue, pewter, and vert noir. All mild steel garden furniture is additionally pre-treated with zinc spray for long lasting protection from the elements. Stainless steel furniture can be bead blasted to a soft industrial lustre, brush polished for a satin finish or highly polished to a bright and shiny mirror finish. All glass table tops are toughened with polished edges and available in either a clear or opaque finish.
Our dining room metal furniture comes in three styles: contemporary Tahira, and the more classical lines of Thurston and Xenos. Ideal for the conservatory or dining room, these are items which we have designed and made for past clients. They demonstrate a range of styles, materials and finishes - many more are possible. Tell us what you have in mind, and we'll work out an up to date quote for you. Tahira bead blasted stainless steel dining table and chairs with lacquered solid bronze detailing. The chairs have a solid wood back in a choice of ash, beech, cherry, maple, oak & walnut and a deep upholstered seat in soft moleskin feel faux suede (in 17 colourways).
