Specialising primarily within the conservatory industry for over fifteen years, Prestige is recognised as one of the UK's longest trading roof blinds & window blinds specialists. Prestige has developed a wide range of products and services, of which Window Shutters, otherwise known as Plantation Shutters and wooden shutters has for some years been a major part. As a family business, we have worked hard for the good reputation we now enjoy; serving the window furnishings market with excellent quality systems; traditionally employing the highest standards of workmanship, materials and customer relations.
With the typical Victorian conservatory having 12 glass roof panes & 14 side panes of glass (excluding the small opening lights), ie 26 windows that may need blinds, it is not surprising that a considerable amount of light is generated, resulting in harmful glare! It is also not surprising that many conservatory owners cite "glare" as their biggest issue. The best conservatory blinds to combat glare eliminate the brightness, rather than just reduce it. Your eyes are special & extremely sensitive to bright light & so should be afforded maximum protection against the harmful effects of UV rays.
Mr & Mrs E. had all of the usual problems with a south facing conservatory: too hot in summer, too cold in winter, too much bright light causing eyestrain. The TV was impossible to watch. Although they initially requested roof pleated blinds & side verticals due to their large side windows, Mr & Mrs E were attracted to the plainer type roller blinds. They mistakenly believed that you could only have pleated blinds in a conservatory roof (a common misconception!) & were pleasantly surprised to be demonstrated the alternative roller product.
With their clean, sophisticated lines Prestige Roman window blinds are one of the most stylish ways to dress a conservatory window. They are lowered in folds, offering protection from strong sunshine without cutting out too much light. The soft, curtain type fabrics create a beautiful appearance, that adds grace and elegance to your windows. For a sumptuous, fuller look and feel, Roman blinds are lined. We believe we give only the highest standards of service and provide the highest quality products, at a price that is great value.
Should you require "side" blinds, there are far more options (see "Window Blinds" section), but it is far easier to select your preferred ROOF blinds first, & THEN choose sides. Often, consumers know if they want Pinoleum blinds because they desire a natural wood product that compliments their timber conservatory; they may have seen them in the monthly Lifestyle magazines; and they accept that, thermally, they are not the best, but will do "a job" whilst providing a dappled light effect in their conservatory which is unique to Pinoleum.
Vertical Window Blinds offer a practical and efficient conservatory blinds solution. They are available in a wide range of colours and patterns and also offer a variety of fabrics to further tailor your choice of blinds. Vertical window blinds are also great for tapered windows where the blinds need to follow a contour. Window blinds are an important purchase for your conservatory and our range offers high quality at a very affordable price making us a great option, even if your budget is restricted.
The blinds in your home are as much a fashion and style statement as they are functional, so it's important to get your choice right. If you have windows that face full sunlight then you may want a blackout blind, if they are West or East facing then Voile Roller Blinds will allow the light in and create amazing lighting effects. If you don't want something quite as fabric heavy as a Roman Blind but still with plenty of style and easy to operate then rollers provide an excellent alternative. To co-ordinate perfectly with your roof blinds, Prestige roller blinds offer an extensive range of fabrics.
Concern about our environment is certainly a growing international concern. There are many ways to dramatically improve the energy efficiency of your home including loft insulation, water tank insulation, double glazing, cavity wall insulation, draught proofing, energy efficient light bulbs, heating controls and installing the right types of window blinds and curtains. Probably the best type of window blinds for insulation are cellular shades, also called honeycomb shades, or Duette blinds. They come in single, double and triple cells.
Available in standard pleat, micro-pleated, honeycomb or Pli-Sol, there are over 350 fabrics and colours to choose from. Either overlap windows with larger, free-hanging blinds or mount one per window onto the window beading for the ultimate in flexibility and neatness. Pli-Sol Pleated Blinds: Ideally suited to tilt 'n' turn windows, Pli-sol has a unique patented cording system that enables guide cords to "disappear" to the sides of the blinds, with no untidy pull-cords. The slim-line rails fit discreetly into the window beading so that the full character of your conservatory is maintained.

Blinds were required on all roof & side windows. Mrs G loved the Prestige pleated window blinds that she saw at her friend's house, & therefore asked if she could have them fitted to the roof also, as the heat loss in winter was an issue, along with glare. She would however want the type of roof blinds that best solved the heat & glare issues, & so was open minded about which type to go for. Without question, the most effective fabric is Solar Energi, as used on our roof roller system. Saving up to 50% of heat loss through double glazing in winter, it has remarkable insulation properties.
Venetian window blinds provide a modern, fresh and clean look to any conservatory window. Often, in a conservatory, you want to let lots of light in through the windows but still retain some filtering from direct sunlight. Venetian blinds offer a practical solution to achieving a balance between light and heat. Venetian conservatory blinds are available in a variety of styles, from pastels to vibrant shades, metallic finishes to natural wood. They create an unobtrusive window covering without reducing your span of view.
Mr D's conservatory felt really cold, especially in winter & was therefore unused for long periods. At other times it heated up so fast & became intolerably hot to sit in. Any heating just seemed to rise & escape straight through the roof. A keen gardener, with a lot of greenery in the garden, flies would invade the conservatory at certain times of year, so any solution would need to be sensible & practical, but "attractive for the good lady wife"! Without question, the most effective fabric is Solar Energi, as used on our roof roller system.
