Swimming pool lighting is a necessary part of making the modern swimming pool a fun and safe place to play. As a minimum lighting should illuminate your pool water to make sure swimmers can always be seen. It can also be used to create the mood of an inviting relaxation area. Pool lighting can be divided into three main types. General lighting that illuminates the pool deck and paths so you can wander safely after dark. Then there is underwater lighting that is useful for swimming after dark as well as creating decorative night time lighting effects.
Pool design is understandably normally interpreted as the shape of the pool, the design of the surroundings and perhaps even the local landscaping and planting. The aesthetics should not be the entire focus for the designer however as the practicality of the build, the accessibility of the site and the ultimate effectiveness of the water treatment plant must not be overlooked. It takes a team with good experience to produce a design that succeeds in all aspects. Water depths, internal profile, slopes & pool cover are important factors in the usability of your pool.
EPS was formed by current MD and Technical Director John Scott in 1992. The company formation followed a career in Building Services Engineering Consultancy and several years as a technical manager at Calorex Heat Pumps. The design and construction team has slowly been built and trained at EPS with the emphasis on good engineering at a design and installation level. Several of those trained have moved on to set up rival companies (swines!) so the training must have been reasonable! We provide our schemes for many of the major swimming pool and construction companies as well as hotels, leisure centres, schools and homeowners.
We also provide design consultancy and project management services to architects, private clients and general pool trade for the various processes involved in construction of a new pool or spa. With in excess of 800 installations to refer to, and over 60 being engineered at any one time, EPS always have relevant examples and anecdotal advice to offer.
Every pool that we design comes with a set of detailed calculations and CAD drawings created specifically for that project. This ensures the design team and the on site team are fully aware of the requirements long before the first turf is dug. Engineered Pool Supplies' strength lies in having a thorough knowledge of swimming pool construction, filtration, lighting, heating & ventilation, electrical, gas, oil, drainage and building construction. We install all the pool systems under our control using our own staff, so the common problems with sub-contractor interfaces is avoided.
