At Stronghold Preservation we generally promote and use modern methods of engineering in order to reinstate the structural integrity of a building, especially where the building is historic or listed; we find that the disruption is minimalised, and the aesthetic finish is preferable over traditional engineering methods ie Cintec anchors over pattress plates. We have worked on a large number of building types; residential, churches, retail, & historic castles and monuments. We employ our own specialist rope access team, including certified rope access surveyors, who can assess and carry out the manual work on difficult to see and reach projects.
Damp within our homes and buildings can generally be classified into 3 types (rising damp, penetrating damp & condensation), each of which has a distinct solution; it is therefore imperative that one of our experienced surveyors carries out a full survey of the property prior to any remedial works being carried out. It is important to note that leaking pipes can also cause damp; our experienced surveyors are adept at identifying the root cause of the problem. Rising damp only affects ground floor walls.
Stronghold Preservation provide, in accordance with BS8102, a full design and advice service for new build basements, as well as an installation service. BS8102 recommends that a specialist basement waterproofing contractor be included in the design team at an early stage in the design process. From our experience, early inclusion in the design is the most successful and cost effective; and is the most likely way for the client to achieve their goal without compromise. We at Stronghold Preservation provide a 10 year insurance backed guarantee for all basement waterproofing where we have provided the design detail, and installed the waterproofing system.

Depending on the nature of the enquiry, we can provide a range of surveys; from a visual inspection (where the building structure is not opened up), to an in-depth survey, where our technicians can expose the nescessary areas for our experienced surveyors to investigate, and provide a full and comprehensive written report detailing our findings and proposed remedial works to be carried out.

For new build basement projects, we provide a design service at the drawing stage to ensure that the basement construction is tailored for each individual project. Where the project is for an existing basement, we have over 25 years experience at trying to find and eliminate the source of the damp ingress, and providing a solution for each individual problem; whether that is installing a new waterproofing layer to the building fabric, or sealing leaks in otherwise sound construction.
