Here in our gardening department we have a full and comprehensive range of products to help make your garden grow, from lawn care and fertilizers, to composts, tools and pots. We carry a huge range of Sutton's seeds, spring and summer bulbs, along with seed potatoes and onion sets (depending on the time of year). All this choice can be a little daunting, so feel free to ask our friendly and knowledgeable staff for guidance through the array of names and packaging. Houseplants have long been a specialty at Wm. Wheat & Son.
A place of peace and tranquility; walk into a world where your senses are aroused as you touch, feel, see and perceive the wondrous natural beauty of mother nature herself. Behind our garden centre lies historic Bourne pool, Created circa 1443 by damming Bourne brook, (a stream that flows from Aldridge through to Lichfield). The pool was built to power an iron mill that was very modern technology at the time. Today we have created a beautiful waterside walk around the pool incorporating new pools, paths and bridges.
We regularly visit Waterside cafe, for lunch, breakfast or just coffee and cake. It's a great place to visit with lovely views of the lake, but the real star is the excellent food. Meals are freshly cooked, with generous portions and locally sourced where possible. They serve terrific coffee, with mostly made in-house delicious cakes. The staff deserve a special mention for their outstanding friendly service and it's always good to see their chef John popping out of the kitchen to check that customers are happy. We certainly are. A friendly welcome from Lucy & Michelle in the flower shop & a great breakfast in the cafe with good service & friendly staff. Well worth a visit anytime of the year.
Me and my husband went to the newly opened cafe on 18th July and had drinks and toast. The only problem was a small amount of butter for two slices of toast. I asked the waitress and she did bring some more butter. We decided to take our two grandchildren aged 8 and 17 months yesterday and I was impressed that you had gluten free cake for my 8 year old grandson He had the lemon sponge cake. The cake arrived along with our drinks and we waited and waited for the toast for us and my baby grandaughter and we waited for nearly three quarters of an hour so I went to ask about it and they brought one slice of toast when we ordered four so I asked again and the the waitress brought the other toast and again just a small amount of butter so I had dried toast. We did get a refund for the mistake. Saying all this the grandchildren did enjoy the fairy trail and the ducks and fish. We are going again next week with them but will be taking a picnic. I will be going again because I do love all the plants and to look round but I think we will give the restaurant a miss.
