At Charles Grosvenor Ltd we have over thirty years experience in the design and construction of loft rooms. We also specialise in the conversion of modern truss roofs. We strongly recommend that you speak to the owner of, or visit one of our completed projects in order to satisfy yourself that we have completed the job to the customer's complete satisfaction. We pride ourselves in attention to detail at every stage so that projects run smoothly. We also manufacture our own staircases, which enable us to match the new loft stairs with the existing stairs, whenever possible.

Once you have entered into an agreement for a loft conversion your information will be forwarded to one of our architects who will arrange an appointment to carry out a structural survey of your property. The information gathered from the survey will be used by him and our structural engineer to prepare the plans and calculations. These are then used to obtain planning approval for your conversion project. We have over 35 years experience in loft conversion regulations and have built up excellent relationships with the planning authorities, Charles Grosvenor Ltd do not cut corners, but provide a complete, quality service taking the strain out of obtaining planning approval by liaising closely with the planning authorities.

In 2010 we decided to convert the loft space at our head office at 300-302 Birchfield Road, Redditch, Worcestershire to enable Charles Grosvenor Ltd to be the first loft conversion company to offer a full functional showroom and marketing suite. Any potential clients are more than welcome to visit us and take advantage of what can be achieved with a Charles Grosvenor loft conversion. A dormer is a structural element that is built into the sloping surface of a roof, usually with a vertical window in the outside wall. Dormers can be designed with gabled, hipped, sloping (shed) or flat roofs to complement the original roof design. Many loft conversions use multiple dormer windows for the added space, light and character they bring to a loft. For example, in an en suite or midway along a bare wall where they break the line of a solid sloping wall and provide a vertical viewing window that also conforms to safety requirements.

Although you may mot be able to walk around in your existing loft, it can be converted into a fantastic new room. Truss roofs were introduced in the 1970's and are still commonly used today on new build houses. At Charles Grosvenor Ltd we have been constantly adapting to working with new construction methods and building products as they become available. We have been converting truss roof loft spaces in the West Midlands for the past 30 years. Properties with truss roofs typically have no load bearing internal walls.

The building stage is without doubt the most exciting part of loft extensions. We have already taken the strain out of the surveying and planning stages by obtaining all the necessary permits and permissions on your behalf. Your project manager will contact you two or three weeks prior to the start date to arrange a meeting. Any questions you may have regarding the plans, contract or building process will be answered at this time. We will also clarify the exact position and access for the scaffolding and materials etc, confirm the type of handrails, stair parts and skirting boards if they are to be matched.

If you take advantage of our free feasibility study, we will make an appointment for one of our surveyors to visit your property to carry out the initial survey. This will include an investigation of your current loft space to ascertain the construction type and to make sure that certain minimum dimensions are available. Your surveyor has a wealth of knowledge over a wide range of roof types and will be able to advise you on the outline of your conversion including what you intend to do with the extra room, changes to the roof line, access from the landing etc.
