Thank you for the excellent Damp Control System your company has installed in my property, after one year the results are beyond my expectations. Your customer service was very good, the work was started and completed on the times arranged, the workmen cleared away all the waste debris every day. They answered all questions, were polite and worked extremely hard on this difficult property. I highly recommend the company and their product. We should like to express our complete satisfaction with the damp control work carried out by your company and with the explanations given by your surveyor, The workmen were very competent, tidy and the final check a year later was also thoroughly dealt with.
Condensation usually occurs when the moisture in the property, e.g. the humidity and vapour from hot showers & baths or drying your washing, is coupled with a lack of ventilation i.e. you are not opening windows, there is a lack of an extractor fan etc. Penetrating damp may be due to a leaking roof, missing roof tiles, poorly maintained or damaged plumbing or some other structural defect where water soaks into the structure. Rising damp, however, is caused by a building's structure soaking up groundwater in a capillary action.
We know all there is to know about damp. Having been experts in this industry since 1988, we've seen all causes, types and variations of damp. This has led to our damp specialists creating an innovative new product to target damp problems in your home for good: the Schrijver System. Our permanent, eco-friendly solution to damp works alongside the natural ventilation processes in your home to remove damp. From our various experiences with firms within the property/building industry, Frank Schrijver Ltd's honesty and professionalism, coupled with efficiency and high quality workmanship has impressed us greatly.
Have you got questions about damp, or about how the Schrijver System can help? Check out some of our most frequently asked questions below. If you don't find the information you need, just give us a call on 01689 800101 or send an email to info@damp.co.uk. Problems start to occur when there is insufficient ventilation to remove this water - this is what causes those wet walls and windowpanes. The Schrijver System will lower the humidity level in your room, helping to minimise condensation. The system uses the natural process of condensation to rid your house of excess moisture - cold spots within the elements ensure the water removed is from the air and then channelled out of the walls.
Here at Frank Schrijver, we are often asked about our damp proofing cost, however, with each project being unique, we are unable to provide an accurate individual quotation until we have inspected your property. The size of your property is the first variable that needs to be addressed. We install the small, handmade elements of the Schrijver System to the outer wall of your property, using approximately 2.3 elements per linear metre. So, a mid-terraced house may be different to a semi-detached house, to a detached home or a bungalow.
When it comes to damp proofing your home, you want to be sure the solution you choose keeps your house damp free for as long as possible. However, with traditional damp proofing methods and companies, you'll often find that they only prevent damp through the construction of a barrier or membrane. Obviously, this does not address the problem at the root - it only provides a temporary solution to damp which then needs to be constantly maintained. My house has no damp course and is built of granite.
