Our hammocks are unique and are handmade exclusively for us on special wooden looms made to our own exacting specifications. They represent the cream of the hammock world and are not the same as Mexican style hammocks available through other websites. Not only hammocks: we also have hammock stands & fixings, hammock chairs, handmade tiles, baskets, blankets, ponchos, ceramics, tin decorations, Mexican wrestling masks, tile coasters and more. The Mexican Hammock Company works in conjunction with the rural people of southern Mexico to bring you the finest quality handwoven hammocks currently available.
The hammock is used extensively in Central America and is a classic example of a timeless style conveying natural strength, harmony and tranquility - major factors influencing modern Mexican interior design. Our hammocks are handwoven in Mexico from soft, strong cotton yarn which moulds itself to the shape of your body. The end strings are made from tough nylon thread for extra strength. Outside the home you do not need two ideally spaced trees for your hammock. A post, exterior wall or tree can be used as a permanent fixing point and it's a simple affair to rig up additional temporary supports.
Mexico has been famous for the quality of it's handmade tiles for over 400 years. Examples of intricate tile makers' work can be seen on many public and private Mexican buildings. These beautiful wall tiles are unique, functional and practical. A vivid, distinctive and lively finish for any wall space. The Mexican tiles that we stock are in a class of their own, the best quality and most affordable handmade tiles you will find anywhere. We have over 35 years experience with Mexican tiles and only supply hand made tiles of the finest quality.
Deceptively simple, the elegant curve and strong colours of our hammocks form a natural focus in photographs. Each hammock is unique and is handmade using a complex weaving technique as old as the Mayan civilisation who developed it. In the summer hammocks look just as good hanging on frames against backgrounds of decking and terracotta as slung from trees in traditional cottage gardens. Inside the house they bring beauty and versatility to any room. There are so many ways to hang a Mexican hammock.
