The Prime Minister has expressed great satisfaction with the new carpet and personally I am delighted; the results really demonstrate the highest levels of craftsmanship and the value of working with such highly skilled professionals. Do please pass on this appreciation to everyone involved.' I am really so pleased and cannot thank you and the team enough for making the rug that I envisioned. The Stockwell family have been involved in textiles and carpets at least since 1755 (see Samuel Stockwell's indenture in the 'History' section.).
In 1755, my great, great, great, great grandfather, Samuel Stockwell, commenced his seven year apprenticeship to become a weaver of broadcloth in the County of Yorkshire. His son John, after whom I am named, followed him into the same trade of weaving and we still have the indentures to witness their apprenticeships. Broadcloth weavers became the first weavers of carpets in the United Kingdom. All my ancestors were involved in some way or another in the world of carpets: my great-grandfather and my grandfather (another Samuel) founding SJ Stockwell & Co in the North of England.
During a short period of time after your new carpet has been installed, it will tend to shed some woollen fibre: this is just short fibre that will be removed during the initial period of vacuuming. If your rug is on wooden floor, avoid excess polish or wax which can contaminate the rug, as sticky surfaces attract dirt. Steps in treatment of stains are indicated as 1 to 4. ONLY proceed to the next step, if the previous step fails. Enzyme Detergent e.g. Bio-tex is used in concentrations of one teaspoonful to 1/2 pint of warm water.
