Whilst we are considered a market leader, our Group remains a family owned and operated company; George Bell, our Chairman and Founder, set up his own commercial painting and decorating company in April 1984 - Collins and Bell Ltd - operating throughout the central belt of Scotland. Since that time the Group has grown through acquisitions as well as organically; this has resulted in developing a strong network of services, which have been designed to integrate on a national, regional and local basis.
Our Bell Decorating Academy model has been introduced to solve a fundamental problem facing the painting and decorating industry today; skills shortages. Skills shortages are not only having a negative impact on our industry, but the construction industry as a whole. As the leading UK painting and decorating contractor, we must attempt to resolve this issue and our academies we hope, are the solution. The purpose of each academy is to support and enhance the learning and development of students whilst at college, making the transition from college to the workplace a smoother process.

Our East Midlands branch recently completed this project for Longhurst Group. This building has been converted into flats, but it was originally built for the processing of feathers for pillow cases.

Back in 2018 we carried out the restoration and redecoration to The Hilton Waldorf Astoria in Edinburgh. We restored the cast iron structure back to the original Caledonia railway colours as the gates were the original entrance to Princess Street Rail Station.

In 2019 we worked on the historic Drummuir Castle. The castle was built in 1847 and we carried out a full external redecoration program including joinery, resin repairs and replacement of mastic and extensive putty repairs.
