Holloway's Period House Shop, today, is the culmination of everything our family have been working towards over the last 50 years or so. A family of antique dealers, we moved into architectural salvage in the mid-1980s. That experience, together with our renovation of old properties, has led to us specialising in correct and properly designed and made products for all kinds of properties, style and aesthetic. In the 1990s Simon opened the first Period House Shop and then a decade or so later Mark started to develop the, mainly, London based Holloways of Ludlow.
Whether letting light or fresh air in, windows are an integral, decorative part of any architecture. We stock fastners, locks and lifts for sash windows and stays and fasteners for casements. All are available in iron, brass and its variants and made in Britain.
Knobs, knockers, numbers, letter plates and bell pushes can all be found here. Our blacksmith makes some in iron for Georgian, Arts & Crafts or early timber framed houses. How about chrome for a 30s or modern home, bronze for an understated, rich look or good old polished brass for a traditional feel. Much is still made in Britain. Come in and have a look.
Is it a pre-modern reproduction sconce that you need, a mid-century workshop work lamp or a 21st century spot light? Lamps in a passageway for both illumination and interest, a reading light over your bed or settee, lights aside a bathroom mirror or better light for food prep in the kitchen. In brass, antiqued, bronzed, nickel, chrome, wrought iron, ceramic or glass and adapted from nautical lights, industrial fixtures or old candle sconces, from traditional to hyper-modern, wall mounted lighting comes in many flavours and we've worked hard to find a light for all situations.
Available plumbed, dual fuel or electric only, floor or wall mounted, with an integral radiator combined and in chrome, nickel or copper finishes. Then choose from our range of valves from traditional to machine age to school house all in matching finishes.
We are an agent for LeFroy Brooks Bathrooms and, as such, have a display of their excellent basins, lavatories, showers, lighting, mirrors and taps. We also have stock of some of the finest wooden lavatory seats available and other, bathroom accessories. Many of these are made by ourselves and are not available elsewhere. Years of restoring old properties and dealing in architectural salvage has helped us understand bathroom design properly and we can help you renovate yours.
We make traditional brackets in brass, chrome and cast iron. Our blacksmith creates traditional and modern brackets in wrought iron or we can supply carved wooden corbals for more decorative decors.
Years in architectural salvage and building conservation taught us about the correct fittings for period properties. But we understand more modern styles too. So that we can supply the best, we have a blacksmith and brass foundry and work closely with historic Birmingham manufacturers. Whether it's an aged Bronze door knob for a contemporary look or conservation ironwork for a tudor property we can source or, perhaps, even make it for you. Have a look here or ring us on 01584 877276 or visit us to look further or discuss your requirements with us.
They have a comprehensive range of cast iron radiators, towel rails, fireplaces, surrounds and stoves. We have worked with many suppliers over the years and believe this is the best range, combined with value, available.
This is a selection of shades available to fit to your own lamp, lighting fixture or as a replacement for a broken one. We have shades for electric or oil lamps in glass, ceramic, steel, aluminium and Bakelite. Some require special fitting adaptors available in our Parts Department. This is only a small selection of what we stock or have access to. Call us on 01584 877276 or visit us in Ludlow if you have a special requirement that you think we can help with.
From rim locks still made in Willenhall, the lock making centre from the industrial revolution, and some old, refurbished ones. Other components are still made in the industrial heart of England and wrought ironmongery is made by our blacksmith in Herefordshire. All styles and all finishes are available here.
There is common misconception that cast iron radiators are inefficient and expensive to run compared to modern day counterparts, a point we'd argue. The cast iron sections retain heat for longer and gradually releases the warmth creating a constant warm ambient temperature. Thus, Carron radiators more than match the performance of present heating solutions.
