Having purchased a Contura stove from Wendron a few years back, we had been delighted with the fire/heat output from the fire. We started using barn dried wood and all worked well for 4 years. We then got a dodgy batch of damp wood (didn't realise how damp at the time!), and we got a partial blockage at the top of the flue(lined). Having had the flue professionally swept every 12 months since we got it we asked the sweep to clear the suspected blockage. That was 2 years ago, but we have not been happy with the performance since - lots of smoking, poor draught etc. So we decided to contact Wendron, who, by now, were using "in house" staff to service the stoves. They could not have been more helpful and sent Ross to inspect and clean the flue. We were flabbergasted at the tar deposits which he cleared off the chimney top and, having finished the job, easily lit a "no smoke" fire to demonstrate that it was now OK. For the technical minded, our 6" flue, giving an area of 28 sq inches had reduced to 12 sq inches or probably less. The consequences don't bear thinking about. Thanks, Tony and Ross at Wendron - you just gained a regular customer. PS we now only use kiln-dried Logs, and I've got a moisture meter!

For wood collection from Helston office please call and make a payment, you will be asked to load the logs by yourselves. Our biomass staff are working for call outs and emergency call outs for wood stoves where they are your primary source of heating.
