Even where no funding is available, we can help you make your home warmer, for less money by replacing your old, inefficient boiler with a like-of-like A-rated boiler. Modern boilers are more efficient for several reasons, but their main advantage is that they are all condensing boilers. All well-maintained boilers burn fuel efficiently, but inevitably lose some heat in the hot gases that escape via the flue. A condensing boiler has a bigger heat exchanger, so it recovers more heat, releasing cooler gases from the flue.

If your home was built before 1920 it is likely to have solid external walls, rather than the cavity walls in newer properties. Such solid walls allow almost twice as much heat to escape compared with cavity walls. But the good news is that such solid walls can be insulated - from the outside and the inside. The savings on your heating bills can be considerable, since a typical detached property with internal insulation can save up to 375 each year.* As part of our home survey our assessors, can advise on the best solution for your property.

With around 33% of the heat you pay escaping through the walls of your home, the value of quality cavity wall insulation is clear.* Cavity wall insulation is an easy and simple way to keep heat where you want it the most - indoors. Our expert technicians can complete the job quickly and mess-free - with most being completed within a couple of hours. We are Energystore accreditated and all of our work carries a 25-Year Guarantee provided by CIGA. If your home was built after 1920, the chances are that its external walls are made of two layers with a gap or cavity between them.

For the vast majority of homes the number one priority should be to insulate the joists in your loft space - and Direct Savings will almost always advise you to take care of that first. However, Modern insulation materials mean the rafters of your roof can also be insulated, whether you have a flat or pitched roof. Not only can these insulation projects be completed speedily and effectively, but Insulating your roof can prevent up to 25%* of your home's heat loss, further helping you to save on your energy bills.

Insulating your loft space provides one of the cheapest, easiest and most effective ways to save on your energy bills. Our expert technicians have handled more than 100,000 free loft insulation projects around the UK - and we have the experience of sourcing funding so that it may not even cost you a penny to have your home done. And with most jobs taking under two hours, you could be enjoying a warmer house in no time at all. Loft insulation acts like a blanket, helping prevent heat escaping through the roof.

Insulating under your floorboards is a real walkover when it comes to saving on your energy bills. With easy measures to stop heat escaping through walls and roofs, it makes perfect sense to also look to insulate your ground level floorboards. So with our team of skilled tradesmen on board, combined with a spot of DIY draught-proofing, underfloor insulation can be a highly-effective energy saving measure. Older homes are more likely to have suspended timber floors. Timber floors can be insulated by lifting the floorboards and laying mineral wool insulation supported by netting between the joists.

In a typical UK household, well over half the money spent on energy bills goes towards providing heating and hot water. So with worries about ever-increasing energy prices, it is vital to ensure you have the most efficient and cost-effective system to heat your home particularly if you have ugly and inefficient electric storage heaters. Direct Savings can ensure we find the best solution for you - but, uniquely, our free Home Health Check will also help you to find the best way to earn money by generating your own energy.

Your existing insulation can be left in the loft and the additional layers added to it to bring it up to the required minimum thickness. It does not matter how long the existing insulation has been in your loft, it still retains some of its insulation properties. Once the loft has been insulated to a minimum 270mm thickness the ceiling joists will no longer be visible making the roof space hazardous to anyone attempting to enter. If you already have a storage area that is no more than a third of your loft area our installers will work around it and leave it uncovered.

In respect to the customers that feel the need to slam direct savings, they work extremely hard and do everything to make sure everything regarding the customers booking runs smoothly but sometimes things happen out of their control and they cannot keep tabs on all the engineers that are on duty. These complaints should be taken up with them and not the people behind the scenes who as I have stated work extremely hard to satisfy every customers needs.
