Ableson Roofing Ltd are your local Yeovil and Sherborne roofing contractor and was established in 1970 by Roger Ableson and was joined by his son Gavin in 1987. Roger, a City and Guilds qualified carpenter and joiner worked mainly on building sites constructing roofs and internal carpentry but more often that not ended up carrying out the roofing as well, then as more roofing contracts came his way he decided this was the way forward. On leaving school Gavin decided to serve his apprenticeship as a roof slater and tiler at Brunel Technical College in Bristol this choice was made due to the fact there was very few fully qualified roof slater and tilers, this is still the case today.
We have our own scaffolding which makes us very efficient and usually means our scaffolding is erected for a shorter time therefore causing less inconvenience. A high proportion of our work involves the use of natural slates from Spanish, Glendyne, Brazilian or reclaimed Welsh. Most re-roofs in this area to older properties tend to be either a clay double roman, pan tile or plain tile all of which we are very experienced in using along with a large range of new clay and concrete tiles. We pride ourselves on the quality of our leadwork which we carry out to the LSA standard, all our chimney flashings are lead welded and not just dressed which if not carried out correctly will cause the lead to split.
