The Truth About Lead is a video in which all the misconceptions of lead are answered. Lead is one of the oldest materials used in building and has been trusted to shelter monumental constructions that were, and in some cases still are, our most important buildings. Stately Homes, Court Houses, Churches, Catherdrals and Palaces all utilised lead as a roofing material due to its availability, low maintenance requirement and longevity. Lead for many years has been used in some form on every building.

ALM HM can offer a shingle fabrication service. Shingles give a modern appearance, and can be used for a number of applications including; External Facades, Internal Decorative finish to a wall, New build and Refurbishment projects. Each shingle is folded on all four sides, with two edges folded back and two edges folded forward. The shingles are fastened using secret fix clips which are mechanically fixed to a ventilated continuous sub-structure. Each clip and mechanical fixing is covered and hidden from view by the next consecutive Shingle, giving a complete secret fixed appearance.

ALM HM offer matching rainwater systems for many of the materials offered for roofing and cladding allowing customer to match the quality of their chosen exterior materials to the gutters and downpipes. Metal rainwater systems, like metal roofing and cladding are an investment in the future of your building and are a clear indicator that the materials used in all aspects of your building are high quality. Plastic and other low quality rainwater systems may be cheap in the first instance, but overtime, with fading, creaking, sagging and cracking can cause more problems and expense than initially saved.

Lead slates provide weather-tight joints where flue pipes and soil stacks penetrate a slate, tile, asphalt, felt or lead covered roof. The flexibility of lead allows the slate base to be dressed to tiles of all profiles, avoiding wind lift or chatter problems. Premium lead slates are cut for BS EN 12588 Code 4 rolled lead sheet and fabricated by lead welding. Slate upstands are available in five diameters from the 50mm to 150mm, at angles of 30° and 45° to the base for pitched roofs and 90° for flat roofs.
