As an established Renewable Energy company we offer free, impartial advice, detailed quotations and no pressure to commit. Our Team are with you through the entire process, from initial enquiry, through surveying, installation and commissioning.

Founded by Director Jason Blake in 2011, Blake Ecotec Ltd are a market expert in the design, supply, installation and maintenance of renewable heating solutions including; biomass boilers, air/ground source heat pumps, and solar systems. Based in Somerset our highly dedicated and experienced team operate throughout the entire South West region, installing solutions for customers across Somerset and Devon as well as in Cornwall, Dorset, Bristol and Avon and Wiltshire. Our team is small but we are expanding and increasing year on year.

Installing a heating and hot water system into a new build property offers us a blank canvas to work with. New builds meet the new building regulations meaning, unlike older, more traditional housing, the heat losses are always lower, they have high levels of insulation and have low ventilation rates. The windows and doors also have lower U-values as manufacturers strive to provide products that are as energy efficient as possible for very competitive prices. Please note that new builds are only eligible for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) if the customer retains ownership of the property either as the occupier or as the Private Landlord.

Air Source Heat Pump technology is a remarkable feat in engineering. By taking colder external air from the outside environment, the unit heats refrigerant gases before harnessing the heat through a heat exchanger to provide heating and hot water to the property. Both are equally efficient and the choice will be determined by customer needs and requirements. Unlike conventional or biomass boilers, air source heat pump systems typically operate at lower flow temperatures (35-60°C) so sizing the heating system is essential to maximise the greater efficiency from the heat pump.

The solutions are made up of a ground loop (conductive heating circuits buried underground) and a heat pump situated at ground level. Pipes can be laid in horizontal trenches or vertical boreholes. A Glycol fluid mixture is pumped around the ground loop and absorbs heat stored in the ground. The pump takes the heat from the fluid and transfers it through a heat exchanger and compressor before feeding it into the heating system to provide heating and hot water to the property. A ground source heat pump increases the temperature extracted from the ground by between one and a half and four times.

There are plenty of options for heating in the domestic sector with biomass boilers, air source heat pumps, or solar thermal solutions, as well as conventional methods of heating such as gas and oil boilers. Once an enquiry is made a member of our Sales Team will meet the customer and discuss the heating system that is currently installed and the products and solutions that we offer. From these site visits heat loss calculations are carried out at the property on a room by room basis. This gauges the extent of the heat lost from the building to its surrounding environment.

The design of a full Renewable Heat Solution, Biomass, Heat Pump or Solar, is a substantial task and vitally important, requiring a unique understanding of construction, engineering and renewable heat systems. Our experienced Design Team work closely with you to understand the complexities of your project, explore options and produce the best solution for your individual requirements, ensuring that your solution is designed to run at its highest efficiency. Our design expertise, combined with CAD and CAM, produce detailed hydraulic drawings, flue diagrams and fully rendered 3D models to allow you to see how your Renewable Heat Solution will fit and work successfully in your home or business.

Log gasification boilers have been described as 'The Agricultural Boiler' and while these boilers are a favourite amongst farmers they are becoming much more popular for commercial and domestic applications, especially for customers that have a plentiful supply of wood. Traditionally log boiler systems would consist of a log boiler with a large accumulator tank, requiring a substantial amount of space. Modern day solutions have been developed to do away with this and as a result are becoming extremely popular because as well as not needing a large accumulator tank some models are constructed as external boilers, meaning that a dedicated boiler room is not required for the installation.

Typically Evacuated Tubes or Flat Plate Panels are filled with thermo-conductive fluid such as Gycol, used to extract heat from the absorber sections of the panels. In the case of Thermodynamic Panels the methodology for generating heat is similar to that of a heat pump. These systems require a specialised thermodynamic solar hot water cylinder. However, thermodynamic heat exchanger units have been developed to allow retro-fitting to standard hot water cylinders. Take a look at our RHI Calculator to find out exactly how much you could earn from the Renewable Heat Incentive.

Manual fed boilers include either internal or external hoppers dependent on capacity, while automated boilers need either sack silos, galvanised store or custom built pellet stores. Our solutions work on either a manual clean system, requiring a weekly clean or a self cleaning solution. Some wood pellet boilers require an accumulator tank, others do not. All these factors and requirements will be discussed at the initial survey with a member of our experience team. Wood pellet boilers have great applications for either the domestic or the commercial market.

June 26, 2015Contrary to recent press reports, the UK met its interim renewable energy target for 2013/14, according to a report issued earlier this morning. The news came as ministers for the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) defended their approach in parliament, fending off questions about the decision to end support for onshore wind early. June 24, 2015Some great shots from Day 1 of our Renewable Biomass installation at Burcott Mill in Wookey, Somerset. With a bit of help our team lifted a Froling P4 Boiler and 1 tonne Pellet store over a wall and river ready to be installed at the popular Guesthouse in the Mendip Hills.

Wood chip boilers are generally associated with larger commercial projects but do have applications in the domestic market. Wood chip boilers require a dedicated boiler room to house the boiler, accumulator tank with expansion vessel and all necessary products to provide heating and hot water to most types of buildings. All products in our Wood Chip range are all fully automated and self cleaning systems, requiring as little maintenance as possible to the end user. Wood chips do take up a greater volume than wood pellets and are less dense so require a larger storage facility.

Here are answers to the questions we get asked most often. If you have a question about biomass heating, solar, air source heat pumps or anything else related to renewable heating then please do get in touch. Yes we do install wood burning stoves in domestic properties, the question that is important to raise is the flue considerations as this is the bulk of the installation cost. We can do flexible flues for wood burners into existing fireplaces (subject to a site visit to survey conditions) or with a hard flue that in most cases would be external.

Why would anyone NOT want to use renewable energy? Blake Ecotec have a range of options and I highly recommend their service.

Very professional service! Our biomass heating is working great and we are more than pleased with their work. Affordable, friendly and professional!
