The furniture we make is always to order and our showroom has examples to show the quality of our work. It is making exactly what our customers require that creates the enjoyment in our work. We use all types of wood and work in any style, if you have an idea in mind then it can be made or if you need suggestions and refer to pieces made previously then we will help you reach the design to fit your home.
At E and S Gott, we take great care to repair and restore your furniture. Although much of the restoration work is antique furniture, their are many pieces which may not be of age but are certainly of sentimental value, which we repair, re-polish or reupholster for our customers. We replace inlays and veneers, carve missing details and can cut marquetry to replace any missing sections. We've worked on a wide range of English and continental pieces to bring the past back to life. We can provide you with a specialist furniture restoration service that can bring your chairs, tables and other pieces to look stunning at the same time, retaining all the character and patination gained over time, back to their former glory.
As a valuable part of our furniture restoration service, we reupholster chairs and settees. We use traditional stuff and stitch methods for antiques to ensure we preserve the character of the piece. We can also repair and restore frames to bring back the wonderful warmth of the polished wood. Contact our team in North Yorkshire to discuss your requirements. One of the first things to fade in antiques is the fabric. Whether you would like to pick something from our pattern books or have a particular material in mind, we're happy to work with you to restore a truly stunning item of upholstered furniture.
A lovely small Walnut pedestal dressing table circa 1730. The colour was very faded and needed veneer and moulding repairs.
A tilt top Breakfast table with Satinwood Rosewood and Tulipwood cross banding and acanthus carved legs. My Dad and myself made the table around 40 years ago and it has just gained new owners who brought it to us to have freshened up.
A beautiful Rosewood bed which we recently restored c1830/1840. The bed has reeded posts and the carved panels for the head and foot are probably African and also carved from Rosewood. The bolt covers were missing so new ones were made.
A satinwood tea caddie with tulipwood inlay, some of which was missing and loose. This lovely piece will be used for its original purpose. No doubt every cuppa will taste superb.
Something a bit different for us. We were asked to upholster this kitchen booth. The orange velvet worked well with the bricks and kitchen units in this barn conversation.
