Edge of the Wood Upholstery and Furniture Restoration was created by Gillian Munro after she decided to take voluntary redundancy from her career as a television film editor. Gillian took her upholstery hobby of 15 years to the next level and undertook an HND in Furniture Restoration at what was Glasgow Metropolitan College. She graduated in 2003, having gained the prize for top student 2 years in a row. She gained instant success and has built up a good customer base of private and commercial commissions, as well as a good working partnership with a number of furniture makers and interior designers.

Finished & delivered to a very happy customer today. A present from his mum around 1987 but sadly the arm was loose, the seat was lumpy. Turns out the the foundation fabrics were all showing signs of disintegration. The arm frame was in pieces along with other frame damage. All the upholstery was.

This popped up in my memories from 14 years ago. It must have been one of my first, if not THE first attempt at doing a rush chair. Not that my customer knew that! I started my business properly in 2003 and it was a huge learning curve. Each job that came in set a new challenge & I am always willing.
