Moosejaw Woodworks is named after the wide open spaces of Canada but based in a 2700sq ft workshop in the heart of Whitstable. We construct and finish custom carpentry and bespoke joinery for diverse projects in the commercial and private spheres. We began life in 2004 as a two-man operation in a garage making small shop-fitting furniture. Over a decade later we are still making all our woodwork in Whitstable, including shop-fittings, commercial exhibition display furniture, constructions for art galleries, and scenery for theatres.
We have an experienced, genial team of makers, all of whom are happy to answer the phones, field requests and discuss your requirements and design ideas. When you contact us with an enquiry or potential commission one of the Moosejaw team will take the lead in responding to and answering your questions. Thereafter, as our testimonials demonstrate, you will receive a friendly and conscientious service from the whole crew. Our joinery skills include traditional cabinet-making, dovetailed and mortice and tenon jointing, framing and roof geometry, turning and wood carving.
One of Moosejaw's specialities is that of helping our clients make the best use of their available space. Fitted wardrobes offer maximum storage and are also pleasing to the eye. We can suggest practical storage solutions to fit within your available space, even if space is quite limited. The simple but elegant fitted wardrobes shown below demonstrate how we can help you make the best use of the precious commodity of available space, even in non-standard spaces. MDF hand-painted carcasses are topped off by Tulipwood framed doors.
A bespoke kitchen can be a highlight of a house, styled to individual taste while fitting perfectly a particular space and being highly functional. Our portfolio of kitchens shows some of these distinctive styles, ranging from a hand-painted country kitchen to a white sprayed minimal-detailed version. We have developed different styles of kitchen over the years for people with varying preferences and budgets. Moosejaw Kitchens are entirely hand-made in Whitstable and are frequently though not exclusively constructed for Whitstable customers.
Moosejaw has been involved in shopfitting since our inception in 2004. Much of our early output was destined for Cath Kidston Ltd and we continue to have strong links with the homeware retailer and its store design team. We construct much of the furniture for their new outlets. We have branched out since our beginnings and have completed many projects with a strong store design element for a variety of independent retailers. We collaborate with designers such as Sarah Man of SLM Designs and Andy Luckett of Brixton East to offer design proposals as well as construction and installation services.
We are no strangers to the big British and European Exhibition Halls and have produced exhibition sets at London Olympia, Manchester Central and further afield in Paris Villepinte and Frankfurt Festhalle. At world famous shows such as 'Maison Objet' 'Ambiente' and 'Home' we erect the stands we have constructed here at the Moosejaw workshop in Whitstable. We start with initial ideas from clients and then turn those ideas into functional, quick to assemble stands that show off their products in an eye-catching way, setting them apart from neighbouring exhibitors relying on off-the-shelf exhibition displays.
We are interested in a wide range of furniture projects and commissions and can adapt to all sorts of room layouts. Our service can include a full design service if required. We are also very able to follow and interpret any client brief, no matter how sketchy. One advantage of bespoke joinery is that you get exactly what you want and, if you're not exactly sure what you want, we are here to provide suggestions to help you find that perfect solution. We have produced many types of shelving units, wardrobes, window seats, dining tables and fold-down tables, as well as cupboards to house TVs and boilers.
Moosejaw Woodworks are also one of the best kept secrets in the world of exhibition stands. I know, I've worked on several and they are always really fab
