Schryver were founded in 1970 and over the years have developed a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the restoration and repair of antique furniture, along with the production of bespoke pieces and all forms of upholstery. As well as being experts in the field of antique furniture restoration, Schryver also has the knowledge and ability to carry out any work required to modern pieces using both traditional and contemporary techniques. With over 45 years experience in the repair and restoration of bespoke and antique furniture, the team at Schryver can collect and transport your precious items to their workshop where they will access and carefully plan the work required.

Our workshop has the latest machinery and hand tools, coupled with our talented craftsmen who use traditional and time old techniques to restore and repair your antique furniture. We can match the colour of the wood, replace scarred veneers and invisibly repair the most intricate of inlays and marquetry. We have a store of rare imported and home-grown seasoned woods as well as a bank of salvaged antique furniture used to restore valuable period pieces. We also have a large collection of brass and other base metals along with a vast assortment of glass that enables us to repair your furniture.

French polishing is a wood finishing technique that results in a high gloss surface, with a deep colour and lustre. French polishing consists of applying many thin coats of shellac, dissolved in alcohol, using a rubbing pad lubricated with oil. We can French polish all wooden surfaces, old and new. No item is too small or to large to polish, ranging from a dining table, bookcase to a stair handrail. We combine traditional polishing with the latest technology using heat and water resistant lacquers for tables and wood surfaces.
