Trained as a furniture designer and maker at the London College of Furniture where he was awarded the college's Higher Award for Craftsmanship in 1987. At the heart of his approach to furniture making is a sound understanding of materials and methods of construction allied to his eye for detail and elegant design. To commission a piece please contact the workshop. This is normally followed by a site visit and the preparation of initial drawings for discussion. Samples of materials, mouldings, hardware and finishes can be provided to help finalise decisions as the design process develops.
By commissioning a free standing piece of furniture you are getting a unique item that will last for generations. As each piece is made to the customer's requirements it is a bespoke item that will develop its own character over time. No other material has the visual and structural qualities of solid timber and Dan's designs use minimal ornamentation, relying on elegant proportions and subtle mouldings, to show the beauty of the wood.
