In the Fishface workshop, we offer a complete upholstery service from chairs to sofas, loose coverings to cushion filling and reupholstery of your favourite pieces. At our shop in Ipswich, we have regularly changing stock with a selection of vintage & retro pieces. We also sell painted furniture and offer a whole range of fabrics from Clarke & Clarke, Blendworth, Moon, Linwood, Porter Stone & Fryetts to name but a few.

We have worked for various companies ranging from antique dealers, interior designers, shops, Restaurants as well as private commissions. We take on any project from footstalls, chairs, sofas to large commercial projects, traditional or modern. Developed over centuries, traditional upholstery involves a range of complex techniques rooted in different periods using elements such as springs, fibres, horsehair, cotton felt, buttoning and stitching. This technique involves craftsmanship, precision and a good eye for a perfect and enduring finish.

This one day workshop is perfect if you'd like to learn the basic principles of simple upholstery to enable you to tackle similar projects in your own home. Our workshops are a fun and inspiring way to learn and we ask that each student brings their own drop in seat, or dining chair, to transform during the workshop. We teach modern upholstery techniques which are quick to learn and easy to apply in the home environment. Through the day you will make your own notes and we will give you hand outs which you take home at the end of the day.
