Established in 1969 we're one of the South West's leading metal fabrication experts. We specialise in sheet metal fabrication and fabricated steel products, underpinned by 50 years' experience in tool making, precision engineering and press work. As sub-contract metalwork engineers, we have a vast suite of metal fabrication machinery at our Plymouth factory - so we can truly offer a one-stop shop for metal assemblies. We have invested strongly in the latest CNC manufacturing machinery, as well as our highly skilled team.

Aldermans are experienced metal fabricators, designing and creating all kinds of bespoke metal parts, structures and assemblies at our Plymouth factory, for clients across the UK. With a wide array of technologies in-house, we offer one of the most comprehensive, end-to-end metal fabrication facilities in the South West. With quick turnaround, experienced operators and in-house designers at our Plymouth factory, our comprehensive CNC laser cutting service is truly a 'cut-above'. We create cut metal parts for a wide range of industries.

As a sub-contract metal fabricator, we design and make bespoke metal parts and assemblies to our clients' specifications. We make everything from small individual parts through to complete metal assemblies. We're adept at scaling too, switching from one-off prototype units to mass production with ease. We're proud to supply many of the South West's leading manufacturers and well-known high street retail brands. We've grown our business through continually investing in new technologies, and we've created one of the South West's most comprehensive metal fabrication facilities.

Our Managing Director Karen Friendship chairs the Plymouth Manufacturers' Network, a group of small manufacturers linked to the Plymouth Manufacturers' Group (PMG). This has pioneered cross-company working groups and training initiatives where staff collaborate to promote manufacturing best practice. We also offer short-term internships for undergraduates and graduates, from time to time when projects allow; plus week-long work experience placements for school and college students; and longer placements for international students.

Having a Civil Engineering Degree from Bristol I was poached from my previous role in 1998 to become a Project Manager for the retail accounts which Aldermans serviced, namely Dorothy Perkins, Burton Menswear and Evans. I quickly got familiar with the workings of the business and set about improving the HR and H&S procedures and the then 70 strong workforce. Appointed as MD in 2005, I further set about analysing our markets and preparing us for the turbulent economic conditions ahead. Passionate about nurturing manufacturing and 'buying local' I chair the Plymouth Manufacturer's Group Network for SME's and invest in promoting the STEM subjects in schools.
