Reuben Henry is a wood finishing and antique furniture restoration business based in Yorkshire. With over 40 years combined expertise, we are able to offer a range of high quality services. Whether you are looking to simply repair accidental damage, or give completely new life to a personal piece or heirloom, we are dedicated to give a reliable, professional and highly confidential service. We use only the best traditional methods as those from hundreds of years ago, passed down through generations of meticulous craftsmen.
Our upholsterers are apprenticed trained and can carry out any type of upholstery. This may include using hair or natural fibre as stuffing, before re-covering and finishing with braiding or studding. To avoid stripping and retain the patina on earlier antique furniture, we use old techniques and materials. This may include waxing or oiling, to enhance the texture and beauty of the natural wood. Wherever possible we repair any damage by gluing and so ensuring the authenticity of the piece. Dependent on customer choice, we can use modern adhesives or animal glues, reminiscent of the period when the furniture was made.
Many of us enjoy the full beauty of wood in our homes. This may be in the form of antique and reproduction furniture, or architectural timber fittings. Whether you require minor repairs, such as loose joints or damaged veneers, or full furniture restoration, we can professionally undertake all aspects. Together with the home services outlined above, we undertake larger commercial projects including; refurbishments to period style shops, cafes, museums and historic buildings. We can arrange, where required, heat and water resistant spray finishes, resulting in a more durable finish.
