OPM started as two separate companies, Peter Milne Furniture Makers in 1977 and Osiris Furniture Makers in 1985. After years of successful making and often competing for the same work we decided to merge the companies, bringing both sets of clients and expertise together to form OPM Furniture and secure a strong future. Over our 37 years of experience we have worked with some of the worlds most internationally renowned designers. David is responsible for production and quality control at OPM. He graduated from the London College of Furniture in 1981, and between 1980 and 1983 he worked as a furniture maker for Heals, Cabochon Furniture and Peter Milne Furniture Makers.
Our London workshop is at the heart of what we do and it remains the key to the quality that we produce and the service we provide. Having furniture made 'in house' ensures that our manufacturing process is closely controlled and unforeseen issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently. Our 10,000 square feet of workshops are fully equipped with machinery that enhances the hand led processes we use to manufacture. It is a flexible environment which allows us to adapt to the scale of any projects we are working on, be it a variety of small individual pieces or a 50ft boardroom table.
Starting at the drawing board, our in-house team of designers and makers work very closely together to take our clients briefs and turn them into fully resolved, functional and elegant furniture solutions. Every project is managed from concept to completion through to installation, with a dedicated after-care service. Our history of expertise ensures that skilled hands and intelligent design extends throughout every aspect of these operations allowing us to achieve the quality of bespoke furniture that the OPM ethos is built on.
We work closely with the internationally renowned Design consultancy Prestwich Design - led by Jonathan Prestwich. The team research and develop new products that combine the OPM heritage of traditional furniture making with the advantages of modern industrial design. Prestwich Design focus their research on new ways for people to interact with furniture that is relevant to todays work place. With the goal to create simple, elegant, innovative products. OPM's countless years of quality craftsmanship coupled with Prestwich Design's expertise in modern industrial techniques provides an exciting and successful working relationship.
