Taurus Beds

Keep your bedroom tidy and your clothes looking great with our delicious solid wood bedroom furniture. We've been making solid wood beds, and making friends of our customers, ever since 1979. We hand build each bed exactly as it's been ordered at our factory in Nottinghamshire and then deliver and assemble it for you. A Taurus bed is a lovely thing to make. But it's even lovelier to own. We are a family run London bed shop within easy reach of Camden, Hampstead and Swiss Cottage. Nationwide delivery also available.

Today, you can order a solid wood Taurus bed, or a piece of Taurus solid wood bedroom furniture, wherever you live and whatever time of day or night works best for you. For almost 40 years, we've been making fantastic wooden beds, order by order, and delivering them from our showroom at Swiss Cottage in North London. We don't hold stock, because we make every wooden bed exactly as the customer who has ordered it would like it. All (with the exception of our Cabin, Stacker and Trundle models) can be made in 7 different widths, from a 2' 6 wide Small Single to a 6' wide Super King.

Our beautiful, traditional style bookcases, handbuilt in our factory in Nottinghamshire from carefully seasoned pine. There are 19 sizes to choose from. We've not photographed all of these, but the 5 images let you see how they look in a range of different proportions. Like our wooden beds and bedroom furniture, you can have your bookcase waxed, lacquered or painted in any of our range of finishes. Shelves fit into brass locations strips inset into the shelf walls and are fully adjustable to take books and objects of any size and reasonable weight.

We handbuild three complete ranges of wooden bedroom furniture: Classic, Kyoto and Shaker. Our Classic range has the warm, appealing styling of traditional English furniture. Kyoto echoes the curved corners of our Kyoto beds, but works beautifully with almost all of our other beds, too. Shaker has a clean, simple line that's a perfect choice for a more minimal and modern lifestyle. Each range has bedside chests, chests of drawers and wardrobes, in various sizes and shapes, as well as sundry pieces like blanket boxes and dressing tables.

Our beautiful divan beds are available as a box base (with no storage capacity), with either 2 or 4 drawers, or as an Ottoman (on which the storage area is accessed by raising the mattress platform.) All our divans are available in a choice of fabric finishes, and many have the option of a matching fabric headboard. The prices shown on our this page are the price we charge for that bed in a 4'6 Double size. When you go to the page for an individual product and select the size you are looking for, you'll be shown the exact price for the specific size you choose.

For many years we built all our products in our London workshop, but rental costs in London, combined with the fact that many of our online orders are being delivered to the North, Midlands or Scotland, means it now makes more sense for us to have our workshop in Nottinghamshire. This lets us keep down the prices at which we are able to sell our beds and furniture to you. Our workshop team have years of experience in building top quality wooden beds and bedroom furniture. This is why, should you ask us to make your bed with the legs half an inch shorter or longer, or with an extra two inches of length for your 6' 8 friend, it's no problem at all.

This is fitting, because the business was started and owned until 2013 by Martin and Tom Walsh, also brothers, and we took over from them when they retired. Armed with a handsaw, a power drill and an old table as a workbench, he set to work, sanding the beds by hand and finishing them with beeswax. Even he was surprised by how well they turned out. Friends then began asking Martin whether he would make beds for them, and he agreed to make a couple more beds. It soon became apparent that there was a big demand for simple, well built solid wooden beds.

We guarantee all our beds, mattresses, furniture items and bookcases against defects in materials and workmanship for 5 years. This does not cover wear and tear, or the effects of ageing or atmospheric conditions on natural materials, or characteristics of the natural materials such as the presence of wood knots or grain. The decision as to whether to replace or repair any item under the terms of this guarantee will be at the discretion of MKS Furniture Ltd t/a Taurus Beds. If we accept that an item is defective and covered by the Guarantee we will, at our discretion, either repair it, supply the parts for you to repair it or replace the item in its entirety.
