UK Hardwoods

Established in 1979, we use UK grown hardwoods to bring ideas to life, creating a truly unique space. All of our timber is sawn, seasoned, kiln dried and prepared at our yard in Devon. We specialise in producing solid wood flooring from Oak and Ash, using floorboards up to 14 wide. We supply a range of structural components and are able to saw and season bespoke pieces for any project. We'll work in collaboration with you, offering guidance to help you choose, install and care for your solid wood flooring.

Our authentic British timber can be used for a variety of uses such as beams, joinery, wood cladding, skirting boards and architraves. Our different types of hardwood can be used for a multitude of functional design features to add beauty and character to interior spaces. We stock a selection of Oak, Brown Oak, Chestnut, Ash and other timbers that we cut and plane to order.

We craft real wood floors to order, giving you the satisfaction of fully traceable timber sourced from UK certified woodlands, milled, seasoned, kiln-dried and prepared in our family-run yard in Devon. By using such a slow seasoning process all of our boards are able to be used over underfloor heating systems. We offer uniquely wide boards up to 355mm, and can produce boards up to 4.5m in length. We bring out the true character and natural beauty of each type of wood, creating a unique flooring solution for your space.

Braunton, in the heart of north Devon's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), is also the home of Zoe and Richard Gregory and their 11 year old son Isaac. The powerful purple front door of their Georgian home on South Street welcomes you in from the relaxed coastal village. Having fallen in love with the house on their first visit, they spend most of their time working and renovating the house to create a beautiful living space. Zoe and Richard spoke directly to Tom Bedford at UK Hardwoods and requested that they would prefer to have narrower Character Oak wood flooring, rather than the wide boards that UK Hardwoods are renowned for.

Creating seating outside Canary Wharf Station, sailing boats in Salcombe, tea towel holders for Rick Stein, our joinery timber has been used by expert carpenters to create magnificent pieces for generations. Our strong ethos is followed throughout every aspect of UK Hardwoods, only ever using trees sourced in the UK. We stock joinery quality Brown Oak, Oak, Chestnut and Ash. Once our joinery timber has been selected and sawn we slowly season it over a number of years, and bring it to the moisture level of 11%.

We can provide lap boarding, castle board TG&V and other cladding profiles for interior and exterior projects. Our cladding is made from UK grown Oak, Ash, Chestnut and Larch. Sawn to order and available in a choice of your own widths, our wood cladding is ideal for use as vertical castle boarding or horizontal lap boarding and is easy to install. We have a large amount of larch cladding as sawn stock for shed builds, stables or garden ideas. The boards for internal cladding are machined to order with a planed smooth finish, a tongue and groove profile and a micro-bevel on one side of each board.
