The Ardosia Slate Company is a family concern that has been involved in the production and use of natural slate since 1984 and has established strong links with producers in Brazil over a period of many years. This means that Ardosia Slate is able to guarantee continuity of supply of their high quality Brazilian slate products and related services, to our customers. This control of the supply chain means that we can maintain the very keen prices that our customers demand. We have a large facility in Barnstaple, North Devon which is dedicated to the storage and supply of our Brazilian natural slate products.

We only stock these tables in graphite (black) slate and they all come with a fine riven surface and pencil edged finish.

Unique to Ardosia Slate, our slate and wood tables use Monterey Pine, Oak, Beech or customer specified timber to produce a top quality product. Made in our North Devon workshops, handcrafted by skilled tradesmen from locally sourced timber and then fitted with a Brazilian natural slate surface or other highlights. Each table is 'bespoke', made to the customer's exact requirements although we do hold a small stock of the tables we have produced for demonstration and marketing purposes. The table supports are manufactured from locally sourced timber to match the sizes and design specified and no nails or screws are used in the construction, all joints are cut and matched by a skilled craftsman.

A: We recommend that you apply a sealer to the slate once the slate has been installed by applying a slate sealer will help prevent the slate from marking or staining. A: We stock a Norcros Flexible Adhesive for general use for floor and wall tiles, which is great if you are fitting under floor heating. A: The slate can be very easily drilled using a good quality masonry drill bit, Use the drill on a normal drilling action and take your time. A: It will only chip if you hit the slate hard with a metal implement, if you find you have chipped the slate we recommend to use fine wire wool and lightly buff the surface.

All of the slate tiles produced by Ardosia are inspected by hand and manufactured to the highest quality to ensure that our clients get a product that is uniform and fit for purpose.

Offcuts remaining from the manufacture of special items are offered for sale at a price of 100 per crate (plus VAT and delivery). Each crate will contain a mixture of black and grey slate with thicknesses between 10mm and 30mm (although most offcuts are in 25mm thick) and in a variety of shapes and sizes, your inspection is welcome. Antique Ash Limestone slabs 800mm x 400mm x 22mm thick. These beautiful slabs are finished with a slip resistant surface that requires the very minimum of maintenance and are suitable for either indoor or outdoor use.

Ardosia can supply a wide range of wall tiles in slate with a large selection in stock. Custom sizes can be purchased directly if you are looking for a specific style and design. Our customers have kindly provided images of our slate wall tiles that are used in a variety of rooms. Slate wall tiles are really useful in environments where there is the potential for water ingress such as in bathrooms and kitchens, especially around the sink areas. Ardosia's range of slate seating will provide the perfect complement to one of our slate tables, or used on it's own will provide an attractive style statement in any area of a garden, vestibule or public space. Handmade from Brazilian black riven slate the benches and stools are available in a variety of stock sizes or can be fabricated to your requirements. The seating has a fine riven finish and all edges are slightly rounded to remove sharpness and give a softer appearance. These items are maintained by simple washing, or if required they can be sealed to provide a gloss or matt appearance.

Ardosia Natural Slate tiles in black and or blue/grey can be used to enhance any area of flooring be it inside or outside, kitchans, bathrooms, anywherein a commercial or domestic setting. Brazilian slate flooring provides the ideal medium for storing and transferring the heat supplied by 'under floor heating systems' (wet or electrical). It has been claimed that a similar level of comfort is achieved at a temperature 2 degrees lower than with conventional radiators. Wall radiators are convectors, heating the air (from the ceiling down); using under floor heating the whole floor area emits heat.
