Since 1968 Marldon has been building a reputation for expertise and excellence in the London property market. With a focus on central London, we have established ourselves as design and build specialists, providing residential and commercial developments, sales, lettings, serviced apartments, and a hotel. Our design, construction, bespoke joinery, marketing and management is all done in-house or with trusted partners. An award-winning company of around 100 people, we are committed to providing good quality properties and excellent servicing standards to our customers and clients.
Headed by Rosie Bartlett, our interior design department is passionate about textures, combining materials and fabric. Working in tandem with the construction and refurbishment team, each unit is given its own unique style and colour palette. All of our flats are modern in feel but with a keen sense of place and history, in keeping with our contemporary English aesthetic. Rosie has worked on a wide variety of projects and is equally adept at furnishing hotel rooms, apartment blocks, individual flats or family houses.
The Property Maintenance department is run by Colin Bishop, and is under the overall control of John Dunnington-Jefferson. The Maintenance team comprises fully qualified electricians and Gas Safe registered plumbers, senior and experienced carpenters, as well as our own decorating and cleaning staff. Colin Bishop ensures that all day-to-day maintenance and repair matters that are reported to us are dealt with as efficiently as possible by the correct member of the team, with anything urgent being responded to straight away.
Marldon Joinery is our in-house joinery works. Joinery plays a large part in a Marldon development and it is one of our unique selling points. It is often highlighted by estate agents as an integral part of the Marldon brand. Marldon Joinery has been run by Eddie Markes since 1995. Based at head office in Clapham Old Town, Eddie is involved in all projects, regularly attending meetings on design, budget and programming issues with project managers and architects. Eddie is able to tailor his joinery to ensure that it meets the needs of the each project.
Marldon has acquired a substantial portfolio of properties in the residential and serviced apartments sector. Our in-house agency, Blueprint Living Apartments, employs a team that manages 24-hour sales for our two serviced apartment buildings, 66 Turnmill Street and 5 Doughty Street, as well as our significant residential portfolio. All of Marldon's apartments are fully serviced by Blueprint Living Apartments' housekeeping team and residents receive a complimentary check-in and maid service, as well as breakfast and wi-fi included in the price.
Marldon's entire strategy for employees on site revolves around apprenticeships and training. We care for our workforce. We believe that caring about people is a good investment, so we continuously invest in our employees and their job satisfaction and ambitions. Our longest employed operative, Brian Langley, trained as an apprentice with our workforce in the 1970s and is now our ‘senior - foreman bricklayer'. In fact, almost all of our bricklaying team were apprentices with us, as were members of our electrical and our plumbing team.
Formed in 1968 by Tony Bartlett and Mervyn Dunnington-Jefferson, the partnership started life as a small building company, working for private clients of residential houses. In the late 1960s and early '70s Marldon grew its client base, and over time we acquired a small property portfolio. As our reputation grew, we began a long association with Maktoum family of the United Arab Emirates. Developments for the Maktoum's included work on the Carlton Towers Hotel in Knightsbridge and a host of private houses in Belgravia and Kensington.
Sustainability is all about responsibility - recognising that the resources of the world are finite, and that those who use them are responsible for ensuring that they remain for future generations. Our waste and recycling policy on average has resulted in 98% of materials being recycled. Our procurement policy is to look for products sustainably sourced and accredited - especially our timber, assisted by our Joinery Department. We use products not just made in the UK but produced by UK manufacturers, so that the transport connected with our supply chain is minimised and so that we use our projects to invest in the jobs and industry associated with revival of UK manufacturing and UK business.
Traditional expertise, contemporary approach. From gourmet three-course meals lovingly prepared by our in-house chefs at The Rockwell Hotel, to bespoke fit-outs and refurbishments of large commercial properties, there is always one thing in common: attention to detail. As a construction company at heart, we are proud to project manage and build out all our own sites. We proactively manage and participate in the design process as well as the build on each development, from inception to completion.
As part of the inception to completion service that Marldon provides, we are fully involved in the sales process of our properties. Whilst we sell through an appointed estate agent or firm of surveyors, the marketing, sales campaign and managing of the process is carried out by Charlie Markes. Marldon is proud to offer an after-sales service, which includes introducing the buyer to their new home or office in person, and taking them through the workings of the property. As we manage all of our own properties, if there are any queries or questions, occupiers can be confident that they will be answered by someone at Marldon, and not passed on to a third party.
