The Golden Age of Bodybuilding was between the 50's and 70's when there were less supplements and steroids became a big thing. Back then, gym floors were made from concrete with little consideration for safety and longevity. If the surface was 'hard' it offered a 'stable' platform for people to lift heavy. This era was a very different era to the one we live in today. We now have rubber surfaces that cushion impacts and dampen sound. The bodybuilders of yesteryear would no doubt find this perplexing, but also rather useful, because rubber flooring makes lifting easier and safer - a win-win whichever way you look at it.
Traditional aerobic studios were designed for dance classes and feature some type of sprung floor system with a void however over the years industry trends have changed considerably and exercisers are using weights in these areas. Circuit training, high intensity interval training and body pump usually involve lifting equipment. It is therefore important the gym flooring surface is elastic enough to absorb these impact forces and safe enough to perform dynamic movements. We have surfaces suitable for circuit training, yoga and pilates, total body resistance - TRX, HIIT and Zumba.
The SPORTEC Style Gym Tile protects from damage by falling heavy objects such as dumbbells, barbells, Olympic discs and kettlebells, all commonly used in free weights areas in gyms. Conventional floors offer little protection in this environment and long-term damage to the gym flooring, subfloor structure and gym equipment is a real possibility. Adjacent tiles are inter-locked with connector pins, creating a solid and stable platform for performing weight lifting exercises. The SPORTEC Style Gym Tiles are available in thicknesses of 30mm or 40mm and in a variety of surface finishes and colours.
