Tony Mustoe's Carpets was established in 1978 by Tony himself. He started with Cheltenham Shopfitting and then moved to Whites Furniture store in Pittville Street, Cheltenham. Tony opened his own carpet shop in 1964 at Gloucester Place (Cheltenham Carpets) before he opened the current premises in the High Street. He was joined soon after by his wife Maureen, and two sons Frazer and Lee. Frazer still provides the carpet fitting whilst Lee makes websites. Scott McCool started when he left school in 1980 and has now been part of the firm (and family) for 31 years!

At Tony Mustoe's Carpets we've seen a growing market for buy-to-let floor coverings, in fact, we're seeing many landlords replacing carpets from the first generations of tenants. Here is advice based on what we've learnt. RULE: Don't buy carpets that appeal primarily to your sense of aesthetics, buy with the maximum practicality in mind. There is one exception to this rule - if you are letting to professional tenants who will demand up-market furnishings and can be relied upon to look after the house and fittings.

There are many assumptions about wool carpets, and it is not always easy to unravel fact from fiction - equally respected parties frequently contradict each other. I will try to provide factual information useful for buying choices here. That's right, we sell more wool carpet than anything else and always have done. The American's, by contrast are apparently only just discovering it in response to environmental concerns. Unlike man made fibres, wool is opaque and therefore hides soiling better than its unnatural, transparent counterparts.
