In the days of yore, most of the flooring would have been green oak and installed at the same time as the construction of the dwelling, but over time, air drying and kiln drying became more popular as understanding of the properties of oak grew. These days, all solid oak flooring is kiln dried to a moisture content of between 8% and 12% to minimise movement in the wood as humidity levels change.

We keep plenty of standard sized ledged door kits in stock (2'3", 2'6" and 2'9" widths x 6'6" high), so we can usually get them to you when you want them.

In keeping with name, these fantastic quality solid oak ledged doors offer the best value available for those on a tight budget. In kit form, we supply these ledged doors with all the screws and plugs you'll need to build them up, but you will have to do a bit of work yourself drilling holes to fit the ledges to the door boards. The oak used in these doors is high quality european oak, left unfinished for you to either stain, wax or oil as you see fit. If you're looking for a natural look, then do ask us about Blanchon Original Wood Environment - a water-based oil which protects the door without changing its colour.

All of our skirting is manufactured using the same French and European oak as our flooring and is supplied unfinished, ready for staining or waxing. It would seem an obvious choice to fit oak skirting boards when fitting a solid oak floor however, oak skirting looks outstanding in carpeted rooms too (and you'll never have the tiresome task of painting skirting again!). We can now also supply you with solid oak architrave to match your skirting boards - this looks great with our solid oak ledged doors.

Engineered oak flooring is essentially, a 6mm solid oak floor board bonded to a strong, stable, tongue and grooved plyboard base, to create a 20mm floor board available in various widths and lengths. The great benefit of engineered flooring is that it can be laid using the traditional methods of nailing or screwing to battens, it can be glued to a concrete floor in any width, or it can be laid as a floating floor over an underlay sheet. As a supplier of solid oak flooring, we were a little hesitant to supply engineered oak boards, but having seen an engineered floor laid, even we couldn't tell the difference!

Our solid oak flooring is all European oak and comes in 8 grades, ranging from barn grade through to quarter sawn. Engineered oak flooring is essentially a veneer of solid oak bonded to a hardwood ply backing to form a floor board almost indistinguishable from a solid oak board once laid. As with our solid oak flooring, the machining precision of our engineered boards is top notch, providing you with a smooth, even floor. The great benefit of engineered oak flooring is its stability - it's ideal for use over underfloor heating or in rooms liable to have water splashing such as kitchens and bathrooms.
