Nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, Bridge House was a renovation project where we installed carpets, wooden flooring, natural stone and porcelain tiles to wall and floors. In addition we restored some century's old elm floor boards. As the main house originated from the early 1500's, a sympathetic approach was required regarding the choices of the new flooring installed. We sourced a very wide, unfinished, engineered board for the ground floor living areas and distressed them by hand. Then applied a black stain which was mostly sanded off to leave it only in the pits, dents, grooves and corners.

With some properties, the wood flooring is in need of renovation, and PDQ Contract Flooring embrace the challenge of making the old new again. Subject to a thorough overhaul, we can undertake the renovation of most old wood floors. Our sanding process uses coarse grit to remove the surface layer, filling any gaps caused by rot or breakage with the same type of wood - exposing the natural grain. Next, we gradually increase the fineness of the grit until a smooth sheen is achieved, and use a triple-disc rotational sander to produce a flawless finish.
