No more draughty, rattly sash windows once our draught proofing system has been installed. Just a more comfortable and energy efficient home! Draught proofing your sash windows will make a significant difference to the comfort levels in your home. Enjoy the benefits of double glazing whilst maintaining the original beauty and charm of your existing period windows. Eliminate condensation problems and significantly reduce external noise. Envirosash will transform the comfort of your home. We believe in restoration before replacement, which is why we always look to restore and conserve the original period features of your sash windows wherever possible.
We are both experienced carpenters with a passion for restoring and protecting sash and casement windows in period properties. We believe strongly that original features, which form part of our national heritage, should be preserved wherever possible. We have two small dedicated teams that work through out Oxfordshire and London, that share our passion for conservation and have a wealth of experience in this sector. We also take great pride in helping to minimize material waste, favouring restoration over replacement.
You may be surprised, but the total airspace around the average sash window is equivalent to a hole in the wall 6 square inches in size. That's big enough to fit your arm through. Probably big enough to crawl through if you added them all together! With all this room for manoeuvre, it is no wonder that sash windows have a tendency to rattle and allow for draughts. Draught proofing sash windows can solve all of this easily. It is also commonplace to position a radiator directly beneath, resulting in energy and money going literally straight out the window.
Original seasoned timber is in our opinion worth conserving at all costs. Often hundreds of years old, the wood is not only of a very high quality but has also moved and aged with the fabric of the building to become part of your properties original charm and heritage. It has stood the test of time. We take great pride in the quality of the restoration work that we do and know from experience that there is only one way of doing things and that is the right way. No short cuts. The main problem that we come across is water damage and rot, which when found has usually damaged the sill and bottom rail of the lower sash causing structural and functional problems with the window.
