Craft Glass are specialists in traditional glazing and crittall window restoration. Our projects are many and varied but often involve listed or prestigious properties for both residential and commercial clients. We can offer sound advice based on many years of experience in window refurbishment. Craft Glass is based in Stokenchurch, Buckinghamshire and we are traditional craftsmen in the art of all that is glass. Our work ranges from Leaded Light repairs to complete window restoration in commercial and residential markets.
Crittall or steel windows are still commonplace and if in poor condition can easily be restored. Craft Glass offer a full refurbishment service, that can include the frame, glazing and all furniture, as required. We can provide bespoke ironmongery in brass, steel or even cast and replicate any mechanisms. Find out more about metal and crittal window restoration here. We have undertaken many projects that require new hand forged furniture, but also where new flat metal casements (typically with tie bars) are needed.
Craft Glass have been working with glass for the last 30 years and during that time we have experienced many different types of glazing scenarios. If you are thinking about refurbishing your existing glazing system or just want some advice about your options please do get in touch. As traditional glaziers using time-honoured techniques we supply and install all types of glass into all types of window frames. We typically use a linseed oil putty to glaze in single panes or sealed units into a frame (usually timber).
Secondary glazing is a very necessary addition to our portfolio, due to the many single glazed projects we undertake. As we are an independent glass company we get to select the best systems on the market and we have one of the market leaders in secondary glazing as partners. We have installed this secondary window system into a hotel conversion project recently (pictured). The system is constructed from a strong but lightweight aluminium, and a hardwood surround so can suit the largest 3 metre bay window (pictured) down to a small single fixed pane.
Traditional leaded lights are an important architectural feature and very much part of our English Heritage that we try to help people preserve. Craft Glass have many years of experience both in the manufacture of new diamond or square leaded lights, and on or off site restoration (where the original glass is mainly preserved). The projects we undertake vary from small Grade I or II listed properties to large and prestigious heritage buildings, including those owned by the National Trust. The scope of work varies from on site lead window repairs to stained glass and complex window restoration - and is carried out using traditional methods with our own staff, not outsourced.
