Many people would advise that triple or double sealed pane of glass would have a greater sound deadening ability. Unfortunately, triple or double glass only offers a very slight enhancement over standard single pane of glass due to the glass that is commonly used as well as the very minial cavity between the panes of glass and not a good way to soundproof windows. This is where Acoustic Secondary Glazing is different and offers a significant amount of noise reduction, this is achieved by placing the Secondary Glazing Window preferably at least 100mm away from the existing window.
Secondary Glazing creates a barrier that minimizes the transfer of heat energy from one area to another by reducing the conduction, convection and/or radiation effects, in other words making it harder for the heat to escape your home. It is done by reducing conduction and convection effects. The air gap between the existing window and Secondary Glazing will act as a barrier just like with double or tripple glazed windows. You may be living a conservation area and not able to upgrade your existing windows to new or find it very difficult to replace like for like.
