We are a large, turnkey electrical engineering contractor, based in Elland, West Yorkshire. Specialising particularly in high power projects from LV up to 132,000 volts we have a truly nationwide client base and - due to our ability to manage complex assignments - we've also exported our services to countries ranging from Barbados to Azerbaijan. Because of our vast experience in this rapidly growing sector, clients often involve us from the outset of a wind, solar, AD or waste to energy project.
Smith Brothers Ltd is a large, turnkey electrical contractor with over 20 years' experience. Since our inception in 1999, we've worked on a vast portfolio of projects throughout the UK and overseas, both as an ICP and EPC contractor on schemes up to 132kV. But how exactly have we progressed from a small, family-run business based in Elland, West Yorkshire, to being trusted by some of the country's most well-known brands? We offer a range of services and can cater for everything from the delivery of a turnkey project - including the supply and commissioning of equipment and cabling installations from LV up to 132,000 volts - to ongoing preventative maintenance, ensuring your equipment continues to run smoothly.
Our highly experienced Power System Design team is well equipped to deliver a complete range of civil and electrical design and project consultancy services. Encompassing standalone solutions - including initial feasibility studies, specifications, design and negotiation of Grid and Primary substation connections, plus electrical protection and control schemes - as well as full civil and structural design packages, we deliver projects safely and efficiently to meet our customers' requirements. From initial concept design to final detailed 'for construction' packages, we offer a complete civil and electrical design service.
By 2050, the UK and Ireland's renewables sector is expected to generate in excess of 40 billion a year. This notably growing market therefore looks set to reshape the nation's energy agenda, and Smith Brothers has a significant role to play. We're the contractor of choice for two of the UK's largest solar power developers - having already executed more than 100 of their projects, for instance - and we've worked on some of the biggest STOR schemes in the country. We've secured the jobs because of our experience in this complex field, and our ability to supply safe, professional turnkey services.
United Utilities is the UK's largest listed water company, with the group managing the water and waste water network for a population of 7 million people in the North West of England. It is crucial that their electrical infrastructure remains in perfect working order, therefore Smith Brothers currently holds the framework maintenance agreement for all United Utilities' switchgear and cabling infrastructure. In the event of an emergency, fault, trip or system outage, our high voltage electrical engineers provide a safe, professional and responsive service to ensure the facility is back up and running as promptly as possible.
Whether we're working on a high or low voltage distribution system, a simple assignment or a complex turnkey project - upholding the industry's highest health and safety standards remains at the heart of what we do. Our team is made up of highly-trained electrical engineers, jointers, wiremen and fitters - not to mention back-office staff including estimators and project coordinators - and we've worked hard to uphold a series of industry standards and achieve an enviable health and safety record.
When a development is underway to make way for a new or expanding commercial or industrial facility, timing is everything. Delays to project scheduling can prove extremely costly, which is why we pride ourselves on providing extremely responsive support to clients in this sector. Smith Brothers offers a quicker, more flexible and cost-effective electrical infrastructure without having to rely on the DNO. Our experienced electrical engineers specialise in both low and high voltage distribution systems, and we can provide all relevant services in house, without the need for subcontracting.
